Why does it make us laugh so much that the sauce is exaggerated? It's nothing, it's so ridiculous. From a visual effects standpoint, this movie is pretty decent. After all, when I go to the cinema to watch a movie, I always like to watch luxurious pomp and exciting special effects. However, "The Mummy 3" is so illogical!
It was okay at first, although Michelle Yeoh's Chinese really doesn't feel a hint of China (an English education is forgiven, but if there is another role in ancient China, please make sure to make up for it before you speak.) But However, I really don't know that the elixir of Qin Dynasty was found by witches. Moreover, a role like a witch can only be said to be reluctant to accept. Originally we were also going to say that we can't go to the movie from a historical perspective, we have to adjust ourselves that this is a mummy movie. If you think about it this way, it's more acceptable.
However, the subsequent development is really out of line, to the point of being unsightly. Ever since Michelle Yeoh appeared in modern times, we've been out (but still laughing...). A witch who has lived in China for a long time speaks English better than Chinese, and even chanting a spell to wake up the soldiers of the people who were mutilated by the Emperor uses English. Soldiers also understand that being awakened is the most magical place. The only explanation is probably that the ancients traveled through time and space to take Cambridge English classes. What's that... Even the witch's daughter (Isabella) behind the freak communicates with her mother in English. God, it's okay to tamper with history, but there must be a little sense. The funniest thing is that foreigners actually speak to Emperor in broken Chinese. The director also understands that Emperor can't understand English.
There's also an ending scene where the dead witch and her general's lover, who was killed by the Emperor, look at their daughter with a smile on their faces when everything turns into a puff of smoke after the Emperor's mummy disappears. Completely dumbfounded at the moment, spoofed to five stars, we laughed again. This scene should add a little narration, if we can finally leave peacefully, daughter, you have to live well and so on.
As for Emperor, the director is also too strong, and he has also given him the power of the five elements. It's okay, after being awakened, he actually has the ability to freely become any monster. Jet Li's sacrifice is really touching. And Isabella, a fairly decent character. It's just that I'm paranoid and don't like her too feminine. I always feel that she is the most beautiful in "Tattoo". Ha ha.
The only ones I like are Rick (Brendan Fraser) and Evelyn (Maria Bello). The scene where Rick was lying on Evelyn's chest after he was seriously injured (weird, but I don't know what words to describe it) really felt good. Also, when they were entrusted to bring the diamond that could wake up the Emperor to the Shanghai Museum, they obviously wanted to go, but hesitated to retire well, and in the end they kept giving themselves excuses to go to Shanghai. I like that scene.
Also, the Shanghai ballrooms of the 1930s and 1940s, which I am obsessed with, are somewhat disappointing in this film. I always thought that those singers should sing old Chinese songs to have more flavor. Oh, Shanghai, which is filled with the atmosphere of the New Year, was destroyed by the Emperor to the effect of "golden radiance". It satisfies my desire to see the special effects of the big production.
Maybe it can only be said that this is a movie made for people who don't understand Chinese culture at all, so they won't feel ridiculous and disappointed by the plot that doesn't make sense in it.
Anyway, just have fun watching it.
