Fortunately, the murderer in the real incident has been arrested, bringing comfort to the victim's family. After decades of chasing the murderer, it must not be easy, and the director hinted at the reason at the beginning of the film.
There are too many imitators, and director Bong Joon-ho uses children as a metaphor for criminals. The majesty of "adults" in front of "children" is difficult to establish, and even the actions of "adults" are regarded as jokes, but "adults" have nothing to do with it.
At the same time, the director identified the suspect by constructing clues, and the identity of the suspect was changed again and again, leaving many people confused. I think that's what makes the movie so successful.
The direction in which the train travels symbolizes the beginning and the end. At 17 minutes, the train moves to the left, the symbol begins, and tension is established. In the film "Attacking from the Bottom of the Sea" (1981), there is this technique, the submarine always faces the right side of the screen, and only when returning is to the left side of the screen.

The director explained the background (the Gwangju incident) in a subtle and delicate way, revealing the true face of the decadent era. The success of "Memories of Murder" lies in the extremely rare harmony and organic integration of historical review, human depth and commerciality. Even now, I have to praise director Feng Junhao for his amazing performance.
