Netease News reported on September 18 that according to Korean media, the murderer of the suspense film "Memories of Murder" directed by Feng Junhao in 2003 and starring Song Kanghao, the murderer of the Huacheng serial murder case has been found. The Korean National Institute for Scientific Investigation found the same DNA as the crime scene from the criminal database and determined the specific identity of the criminal. South Korean police said on the 18th that when the Gyeonggi Southern Regional Police Agency recently re-investigated the Hwaseong chain killings, it found specific clues that A, who is serving a sentence in prison, is the real murderer. The police obtained the DNA left in the victim's underwear and other parts of the evidence at the crime scene, and commissioned the National Institute of Scientific Investigation to conduct DNA analysis and found the suspect's characteristics consistent with the DNA. The Hwaseong serial killings began in September 1986, when a woman returning home from her daughter's house was killed. In April 1991, another woman returning home from her daughter's house was sexually assaulted and killed. There were 10 cases and only 1 survived. At that time, the police invested 1.8 million people in the search, but due to the restrictions of the search method at that time, the real culprit was never found. The statute of limitations for the 10th case that occurred on April 3, 1991 ended in 2006. Since no criminal suspect has been found, the statute of limitations has passed, and the suspect may not be punished. However, given that the case has received widespread attention from all walks of life in South Korea, the police are considering releasing the prisoner's true identity to the public.
