When the lights go out, crime, grief and helplessness are at hand

"Memories of Murder" was released in 2003 and was hailed as an unsurpassed classic. The related real cases, era background, various meanings, female status, personality reversal, tragic ending, etc., have been explained in great detail in many film reviews. In terms of shooting techniques and storytelling, this is also a masterpiece that is often used by the film and television industry to pull films. Above, I can't say more. But why, still open a blank document, want to type what to write?

There are so many details in the movie that touch me. Here are some details about the light when the last victim appeared.

No Man's Path, when high school students are kidnapped. From the student's perspective, there are still two street lights ahead.

No one's path, the road the police wife saw when she turned back was only darkness.

At that time, Officer Su was looking for the lost suspect, and the air defense exercise began. The shops in the town were closed one by one, and it was time for people to go home. The current situation is such that people have to turn off the lights and lock the door, and those who cannot go in or go home are like a hunting game between hungry wolves and sheep. That's why Officer Su's eyes became more and more anxious.

The lights went out in clusters, from close-up to distant. In the end, the lights were all extinguished, and a youthful life was extinguished in such darkness.

Stores that are closed.

Houses that are closed and lights out.

There seems to be a metaphor for the closing of a butcher's shop, as well as why a close-up of a butcher's shop is being featured.

The scene of the murder when the lights went out. Only then did the "lights out" horn sounded.

Just when all the lights were extinguished, the camera switched to the murder scene. The light of the killer's electric hand (it should be in his mouth, because his hands are still turning over the lunch box, holding a knife or something) shines in the girl's eyes. This scene is in contrast to the scene in the film's opening scene where Officer Park pulls out a mirror in the grass and looks at the dead body in the waterway with sunlight. And the broken mirror may also have a reflection of the helplessness of the police.

There is light in the eyes, the light of fear. When all the warm lights go out, evil glows coldly in the dark.

At the beginning of the film, the broken mirror in policeman Park's hand represents the shattered light of hope.

The lights of the store were turned off from far to near, and Officer Su ran into the darkness. People wearing armbands inspected the store as if they were patrolling the streets, indicating the decisive moment brought by the times to the fate of individuals.

When all the lights go out.

When the scene falls back to the perspective of the victims and prisoners in the forest, the film takes two or three seconds to turn off the lights in the village in a disorderly and urgent manner. Yes, it is not all darkened all at once, but is pinched out little by little and quickly, like pinching out the last light of hope about life in the victim's heart.

When switching to the murder scene, there is still light in the darkness.

The lights are divided into 8 groups, which are turned off one by one.

When all the lights go out, the scene slowly turns dark. Life is lost in the dark.

It was this scene that reminded me of a case in Prague not long ago.

On Monday, November 9, 2020, the body of a 24-year-old woman was found in Prague's Hvězda Park. The case was quickly linked to a 34-year-old man who committed suicide by jumping from a Vltavská metro station on Friday, November 6. The two left somewhere at the same time on Friday, and the victim is believed to have been killed before the man committed suicide.

Czech version report

Hvězda Park and Vltavská Metro Station are in opposite directions. The official statement is that the relationship between the two is unknown, and public opinion on Facebook says that the man has been pestering the woman. Is it because they want to kill you because they have you? When the two cases occurred, the Czech Republic entered a state of isolation again on October 22 because the number of new cases exceeded 12,000, and a curfew began on October 27 (Wednesday), from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., unless it is It is illegal to be on the street at night to work or walk your dog.

If it was November 6, 2019, and the epidemic had not yet begun, the two left together, the streets were full of people, and there were always people in the park. The 24-year-old woman may not have died so suddenly and lonely in the park. Thinking of the deserted streets during the isolation period made crime easier, and I couldn't help but feel a new generation in my heart.

By the time I finished watching this movie, the night had already wrapped Prague. After a few seconds, when the eyes got used to the darkness, the darkness brightened up. Outside the window was the silent building next door. When I was a child, I was afraid of the dark, which was a fear of the unknown, which was closer to physical incompatibility; now I am afraid, I am worried about running into the hunting eyes of bad guys in the unknown darkness. No matter what era, what kind of policy, the perpetrators' hearts are all deceived and full of evil thoughts. These evil thoughts are under the faces of ordinary people.

Many killers are now portrayed in various images, and it is easier for people to develop new empathy. But "murderers" originating from real life are two different concepts from "killers". The standards and ethics of homicide in different eras are also different, and the victim is also very likely to have a reason worth being cut with a thousand cuts. However, the thought of killing in the heart, or only using the thought of killing to solve a predicament, is always scary, sad, and sighing. No matter the origin of this predicament, it stems from the social system, growth experience, or the inherent evil of human nature that cannot be resisted.

Although I believe that there are many good people in this world, I feel that the power of evil is really strong, and because evil is in the dark, good people need to gather exponentially to resist a small group of evil. Because evil itself can be unruly, but good needs to do everything within the rules to find a law against it. If good cannot continue to be good, then good and evil are confused.

How difficult is it to be alone. Therefore, between good and evil thoughts, inhabit the body of every ordinary person.
