Ireland, Raymond Barry grew up living with his mother at his uncle's house, and later fell in love with his cousin Nora. Nora's father wanted to marry her to John Quin, an English general. He was robbed on the way and had no choice but to join the British army. It was in the army that he learned that Quin was not dead. Barry fled from the British Army, but joined the Prussian Army. After the war, he became a confidant of the Prussian officer Potzdorf, and let him monitor an Irish spy in Prussia.

But Barry sympathized with the Irish knight, who took him to and from the casino and gained a lot. Barry felt he should find a rich woman, so he set his sights on Lady Lyndon, Sir Lyndon's wife.

Sir Lyndon died of a serious illness, and a year later, Barry married Lady Lyndon and became a nobleman, changing his name to Barry Lyndon. But Bullingdon, the son of Sir Lyndon and Lady Lyndon, disliked Barry very much, and Barry also had a premonition that his future would be ruined by Bullingdon...

▼Wonderful movie reviews:

Thackeray's novels, Handel's music, 18th-century oil paintings, narratives like family members read before going to bed, forgetting the chronology and forgetting the sequence of acts, this is Nanke Yimeng, which combines the beauty of the form of classical art.

Does anyone think this is a masterpiece? ? ? ? ? Why does everything work so well? ? War, love, fall, heaven to hell, and even at the end I'm going to cry. I watched it all night and went back three times.

Bloody hell! Kushen takes sci-fi, war, horror, suspense, drama, and cult films to the extreme. I’m going to make even British classical literary films like this. You genius old bastard makes the BBC feel bad. what!

The legendary f0.7 lens, the legendary full natural light candlelight, the meticulous and dull center composition, scheduling, editing, propulsion from beginning to end, all the way to the performance of the soundtrack and the standard two-stage structure. Cu Lao's classicist saga.

Kubrick's usual indifference, which Pauline Kael thought was slow and lifeless, didn't seem to be wrong at all. The narration has a tone of "you stupid humans", but looking at it, you seem to feel sad in your heart. Mrs. Lyndon is a standard example of still and oil photography, and in the film, she barely speaks, but is full of magical charm.

3 hours of smooth, calm, realistic narrative style without a single extra shot, photography is even more extreme, even a ray of light can be captured so perfectly, the soundtrack is the best use of classical music since 2001 Of all kinds can only be called costume films, Kubrick's Barry Lyndon is truly a classic.

Marking 1000 is of course deliberately leaving only this Kubrick's "Barry Lyndon" that I haven't watched yet, which has been on the hard drive for several months, and I am not disappointed. Although it is not my favorite Kubrick work, it is only based on Photography and composition are enough to give 5 stars. So far, including the short film, all Kushen's works have been read. Never again, never to appreciate Kubrick's work again.

Barry Lyndon quotes

  • Sir Charles Lyndon: [laughs] He wants to step into my shoes. He wants to step into my shoes. Is it not a pleasure Gentlemen for me, as I am drawing near the goal - to find my home such a happy one - my wife so fond of me, that she is even now thinking of appointing a successor? Isn't it a comfort to see her like a prudent housewife - getting everything ready for her husband's departure?

Redmond Barry: I hope you're not thinking of leaving us soon, Sir Charles?

Sir Charles Lyndon: Not so soon my dear as you may fancy, perhaps. Why man I've been given over many times these four years. And there was always a candidate or two - waiting to apply for the situation. I'm sorry for you, Mr. Barry. It grieves me to keep you or any gentleman waiting. Had you not better arrange with my doctor or have the cook flavor my omelette with arsenic, eh? What are the odds, gentlemen, that I live to see Mr. Barry hang yet?

Redmond Barry: Sir, let those laugh that win.

  • Narrator: [voice-over] A lady who sets her heart upon a lad in uniform must prepare to change lovers pretty quickly, or her life will be but a sad one. This heart of Lischen's was like many a neighboring town and had been stormed and occupied several times before Barry came to invest it.
