don't care about love

Probably because it's a comedy, the movie didn't shock me much.

At first, I just saw it as a pure romantic comedy. But after reading it, I thought of something else. I think it probably started when Jane told Tess that she was going to tell George the truth.

Jane has been holding back, being a perfect bridesmaid, not just a bridesmaid, she tries to be a person who is needed without asking for anything in return. Therefore, she does not know how to reject others. Even if Tess and George were in a pretentious relationship, she didn't want to expose them. But she finally said no later, frantically ruining her sister's wedding. She did it, looking a little jealous. However, she actually couldn't bear to see the person she loved being blinded, even if it was her own sister who blinded that person.

The conversation between the sisters in my father's shop made me think more. Although that part is short. Tess has been living under Jane's protection, Jane thinks it's her duty, or simply her duty as a sister, so she does everything and Tess just needs to enjoy it. It is precisely because of this that she will feel that Tess is very selfish. She doesn't care about other people's feelings, she just wants to get what she wants. However, Tess is kind after all, and she actually doesn't want to be like that. She said that she wants to be a person like her sister, a person who is needed, and a person who can feel her own value.

I don't think love is the focus in this movie. On the contrary, the relationship between people, responsibility, love (in a broad sense) should be more important.

  • Jane's Aunt: Must be so hard to watch your younger sister get married before you.

Jane: Yes. Then I remember that I still get to have hot hate sex with random strangers and I feel SO much better!

  • Jane: You would rather hang out with Italian models than come with me to my *awesome* work party?
