And I think Miyazaki's solution to this is love, a love that's boundless. The protagonist Nausicaa is the one with this ability. The reason why I call this kind of love ability is because I feel that this kind of love is not acquired in nature, but needs to be learned the day after tomorrow. Everyone has the desire and power to love and be loved. But love between people is different.
I try to divide love into self-love, family love between families, friendship love between friends, and love between lovers. These four kinds of love are the most intense and the most basic. Basically everyone has it. There are also some loves that are relatively rare and weak, and may only exist at some specific time and place. But it's still important. For example: friendship between comrades in arms, patriotism among people of the same country when they are violated, temporary love of strangers when they are endangered, and sympathetic love for poor people, children, animals, flowers and plants etc. In the world of ordinary people, these kinds of love have very clear hierarchical boundaries. For example, in the face of sympathetic love and kinship love, it must be that kinship love for family members takes precedence over sympathetic love. When everyone is doing things, they will carefully consider the importance of different loves. Therefore, there are many contradictions between people and between people and nature. For example: in the face of family affection, we are likely to hurt a stranger for the sake of our family. and so on. When one type of love is heavier and the other type is lighter, the more we will act without hesitation and guilt. For example: if a flower thorns on her child, the mother is likely to uproot the flower to express her love for her child without any guilt. And so on. The war between countries is likely to hurt each other in order to express their patriotism, and the contradiction between man and nature should be the same. There are only two parties here, and the more complicated conflicts caused by love will not be discussed for the time being. And if a kind of love comes at the expense of hurting others, is it still love? It is not discussed here either.
Here comes back to the film. In Nausicaa, the protagonist of the film, her various loves are not classified and equal. She will work hard to save the life of the enemy Shana who hurt her hometown, and she will also save the life of Beiru who almost killed herself, and she will work hard for the lives of the villagers in her hometown, and she will also work for the safety of Wang Zong. effort. In her heart, these are lives that should not be killed indiscriminately. She treats these lives equally. I won't kill Shana because of the villagers, and I won't save Beiru because of myself. This love is unselfish. is a true kind of fraternity. In her heart, every thing, every flower and every grass is worthy of respect and should not be hurt at will. I think this kind of love is really the key that Miyazaki found to solve the problems of environmental degradation, war and so on.
Just as Premier Zhou once said: "The realization of socialism does not depend on the education level of the people, but on the consciousness of the people." But to achieve this kind of consciousness, we must rely on education. I feel that only when everyone has this unequal love in their hearts can we achieve common prosperity and realize socialism.
But Hayao Miyazaki's film also reflects a problem, that is, Nausicaa doesn't care about her own safety for Shana, Beiru, and Wang Zong, so whether there is a hierarchy between her love and other loves. So is Nausicaa's love still love without equality? In other words, in order to achieve this kind of "unequal" love, is it the premise of sacrificing oneself, just like the famous Buddhist story of the Buddha who protects the pigeon, cuts the meat and feeds the eagle. Is this advisable? Ask everyone here.
But if one day everyone sacrifices themselves for others, can this love for oneself be transformed into love for others? so as not to be harmed. Just like the last king bug will stop attacking and forgive the mistakes made by humans. I think it is undoubtedly a kind of ideal country of Hayao Miyazaki.
