It's not so exaggerated, in fact, many people in China have downloaded and watched these Hollywood non-"blockbusters" like me. One problem after downloading and watching is that there may be more distractions on the side when watching, and it is not as concentrated as in the movie theater. I didn't make any special preparations before watching it. I went to see the plot introduction or check the comments, but I was more attentive when watching it. After watching it once, I thought this film was very good.
I won't say much about George Clooney's acting skills here. The protagonist he plays in the film is a lawyer who is about to go bankrupt, caught in a pile of dirty business that the firm has thrown him, and unknowingly, danger is approaching him. The film uses flashbacks, first explaining what happened on the fourth night after he was caught in all this until his car was bombed, and then talking about the ins and outs of all this from 4 days ago, and then adding the fourth day. Then it ends with a neat climax. So this film is not difficult to understand. From the beginning of the film, the audience knows that he is in trouble step by step.
Of course, the explanations of many plots in the film are not so clear at the beginning. If there is suspense, the audience needs to fully understand the previous foreshadowing and the subsequent results. In fact, as long as you are familiar with the story of Hollywood's popular big companies and even government departments creating massacres to persecute people, it is not difficult to see that this film is just another version of this kind of story. Of course, this version is more ingenious and different from the traditional mode. It does not hide the behind-the-scenes mastermind until the end. This film does not deliberately hide the behind-the-scenes mastermind, but hides the psychology of the protagonist. It is not until the last moment that it is finally explained with actions. The psychology of the protagonist, thus connecting the previous foreshadowings. Let the audience understand what the film is trying to say. I won't go into any further spoilers here. Go and see for yourself if you like.
Another reminder, the current subtitles do not seem to be very good, it is best to listen to the original sound for reference.
