The whole play can be divided into two parts for interpretation:
1. Give the middle finger and say no to the infinite world
2. In the infinitely small interpersonal relationship, Alyssa helps James to find love back.
The first is the character setting:
Alyssa's father, Leslie, was a merciful playboy who left when she was a child. After that, she lived with her mother at her stepfather's house, but her stepfather coveted her, and her only umbrella mother was indifferent. Thinking about the birthday cards her biological father sends her every year, she decides to run away from a family that makes her feel sick and depressed. To find his biological father, Leslie, who truly loves him.
When James was a child, he closed his mind tightly because he witnessed his mother commit suicide in front of him. As he got older, he let everything around him go with the flow, indifferent. He put his hands into the frying pan to seek the reality of existence. Seeking anti-social excitement by killing small animals in a seemingly peaceful life. He considers himself an emotionless pervert.
Until James meets Alyssa.
Part 1: Middle finger to the infinite world: fuck the world!
Just look at the characters in the play.
Alyssa's biological father, Leslie, who doesn't care about her; a stepfather who covets her; a mother who doesn't care about it;
Phil, the father who meets James' needs but doesn't care about his spiritual growth, the perverted gay uncle who misbehaves with James; the rapist male teacher.
A fucking world like this needs some mischief. A fucking world like this needs Alyssa and James to break the rules.
So Alyssa says no to the bad family and she runs away. James said no to his father, grabbed his car and punched him.
Alyssa robs a molester James pervert.
James kills rapist male teacher.
Oh, refreshing. Fuck the world as it should be.
Let's talk about the second part: the process of Alyssa helping James to find love in infinitely small relationships.
Under the subtle influence of Alyssa, James gradually thawed his mind.
Alyssa stepped forward to protect him when he was molested. Tell him that sometimes he doesn't have to put up with things like this. Let James relive the feeling of being protected.
He can't dance, doesn't have to dance. But just with Alyssa.
He prepared flowers to apologize to Alyssa.
He was a lonely person who didn't care. But also became distraught after the cafe was abandoned.
After walking aimlessly for a long time, he returned to the cafe to continue to wait for Alyssa to return.
Not wanting to implicate Alyssa, he pleaded guilty to the phone alone. Finally, defeat Alyssa and run away alone.
In the end, he regained his long-lost feelings.
I just turned 18 and I think I understand what people mean to each other.
