Tragedy, utter tragedy.

1+1=1 They have been searching, and finally found out that after knowing the truth of some things, it is a rebirth. After watching this movie, a sour feeling rushed into my nose but stopped at my chin, leaving the aftermath topping my head and feeling stuffy. I can't use my current words to describe my mood after watching this movie. The gentle narrative, the torn past little by little, to the last family, a person, is a complete tragedy forged by war and faith. Yes, tragedy, it's never beautiful, it only gives me tears again and again.

Staying in the state of "aphasia", removing the terrifying Astonished ending, this will be a great movie. When I was in a daze to understand the meaning of one plus one and the confusion of some oracles, like that daughter, I almost shouted out. Religion makes people obsessed, war makes people twisted, and there is always love between the two, making everything plausible. Good film.

In a film that reflects racial conflicts and religious wars, this work is very special, with a sense of presence that takes the audience on a journey. The shots are very realistic, without too much deliberate artistic processing (almost the style of Yang Dechang's "Yi Yi").

Incendies quotes

  • Notary Jean Lebel: Will of Mrs. Nawal Marwan... To Notary Jean Lebel: Bury me with no casket, no prayers, naked, face down, away from the world. Stone and epitaph. I want no gravestone, nor my name engraved anywhere. No epitaph for those who don't keep their promises. To Jeanne and Simon: Childhood is a knife stuck in your throat. It can't be easily removed. Jeanne, Mr Lebel will give you an envelope. The envelope is for your father. Find him, and give it to him. Simon, the notary will give you an envelope... The envelope is for your brother. Find him, and give him the envelope. When the envelopes have been delivered you will be given a letter. The silence will be broken, a promise kept, and you can place a stone on my grave and on it engrave my name in the sun.

  • Notary Jean Lebel: Death is never the end of the story. It always leaves tracks.
