"Lovers at the End of Time"
What the sorrow of an Eternal is like, I don't know. Everyone ages. If one day you have the face of immortality, will you be able to love someone better? I don't think so.
Adaline was originally the same as other ordinary women, falling in love, getting married, having children, and having the same life trajectory. However, her husband died early in accidents one after another, leaving only their mother and daughter to depend on each other. Later, in another accident, she herself acquired the ability to not grow old and keep her face forever.
What followed was trouble. My daughter was getting old day by day, but I was still young. So she decided to leave her daughter and live with a new identity every ten years. Because she didn't want to see the people she loved go away one by one, she didn't look for a lover again, but she also endured loneliness all the time.
Until he met Ellis, he fell in love with Adaline as soon as he saw him. After his various pursuits, they finally fell in love. In the process of Ellis taking her to meet her parents, she was recognized by his father William Jones. It turned out that they had an unforgettable love. Adaline left sadly, but got into a car accident on the way. Ellis rushed to the hospital, Adeline finally couldn't help revealing all the truth to him, and Ellis accepted her. In the end, Adaline discovered that she had gray hair. It turned out that she had regained her normal aging ability after the car accident, and she could finally love someone normally.
This is a movie with a very grand theme and a very romantic sound, but we can see that the setting of the story is actually very similar to "This Man From Earth", the same face that does not age, and the same ten years to change an identity , the same struggle for a lover.
However, compared to philosophical thinking, this film focuses more on love, but I have to regret to say that it failed. The plot of the whole movie can be summed up as the heroine has something on her mind, and the hero chases it desperately; the heroine hides, but the hero continues to chase; the heroine thinks about it, and the hero chases it. This kind of plot leads to the film focusing more on a slow-paced romance and showing a bad narrative style.
It can be said that the plot has nothing to do with time or anything. If the character setting is changed to the heroine who has a terminal illness and so hides, the logic of the film is completely reasonable. Therefore, "End of Time" is just a gimmick of the film, deliberately packaged as a deep science fiction film.
From the perspective of the characters themselves, decades have passed, and Adaline is not mature at all, and still has a girlish heart. Then time is meaningless to Adeline, she is just afraid that others will know because she is not getting old.
In the infinite youth, it seems very good to have an ageless face, but I can only watch the people I love die one by one, my daughter is getting old day by day, and the puppy that accompanies me is even more so. Time is long, walking alone, that kind of desolation should be the most prominent feeling. And Blake Lively, who plays the heroine in the film, despite her stunning beauty, did not show a state of mind . She is like a little girl with a tangled heart, always hovering between personal emotional love and not love.
However, a major feature of the film is that it shows the fashion changes from the 1920s to the 1990s for nearly a hundred years. The heroine often wears famous brands such as Gucci. It is said that in the film, she has to change at least 9 outfits a day. The exquisite makeup, the restoration of the costumes of all ages with beauty to the details, and the ultimate beauty of Blake Lively, who is always at the forefront of fashion, have become a major point of starring in the film.
Interestingly, during the film's release in the United States, women accounted for the vast majority of the film's audience, accounting for 75%. People have to sigh that the never-aging face and exquisite clothing are two deadly magic weapons to attract women.
I really like the concept of this story, but unfortunately this movie is not as beautiful as I imagined it to be. It would be better if the story could be better.
