A sad story under the gorgeous mess

When I was a sophomore in high school, I saw someone reading this novel in the same dormitory. I also flipped through it at that time, and vaguely remembered that it was about a girl who was raped and murdered. Unexpectedly, it didn't take long for Peter Jackson to make him into a movie. I don't know if he really doesn't have a good script on hand, or if he really likes the story. Anyway, he is such a B-level film apprentice, relying on the director who made a sensation in the world of "The Lord of the Rings" to make such a movie with a strong sense of literature and art is somewhat of a game, anyway, it is not very interesting.

As far as the style of the film is concerned, it has always been Tornatore from the very end. The gentle narration and the pursuit of the characters' hearts, as well as the warm and helpless ending with a hint of sadness, are consistent with PJ's films. The special effects and CG pictures constitute the biggest advantage of this movie - if you haven't read the original book, and did not follow the original book to watch this movie, then I think this should be the most impressive after watching it. As for the story What exactly was said? What do you want to express? Those who haven't read the original are probably as confused as I am.

The story is divided into two parts. One is that in the real world, after Susie was killed, her father blindly pursued the murderer, and her mother blindly escaped, which caused family discord and was on the verge of disintegration. This part promotes development by chasing the murderer; A story that took place after Akane entered a world between reality and heaven after being killed. She kept seeing what happened in the world she no longer had, as well as some truths, and these things gradually had nothing to do with her, and finally when the world ended , when her relatives were not struggling to survive because of her death, it was also when she left safely to go to heaven.

The story is intertwined between reality and fantasy, which directly destroys the fluency of the story, because the two worlds are not closely connected, making the overall narrative abrupt, with a strong sense of cohesion, and the tightness of the plot depends entirely on the characters' monologues , I didn't expect this kind of dramatic technique to be used in movies in recent years, and there is a rising trend. Could it be that Peter, you really can't find a better method? And the illusory world like a stream of consciousness is simply an empty bag wrapped in color. When I saw it, the first thing I thought of was some creative advertisements in "shots", but the splendor is also a feast for the eyes. I couldn't help feeling sad when I saw something beautiful, which inadvertently deepened the film's sadness to me.

Relatively speaking, the realistic scenes have to be handled much better, especially the scene where Susie was murdered and the part where Susie’s sister was searching for evidence in that perverted family. Parallel editing was also used. The previous one showed the murder of Susie. She was helpless and painful at the time and her family still knew nothing, which made people sigh;

The whole film has many shortcomings, but as a work of Peter Jackson, it still failed to fully meet my expectations and was slightly disappointed.

As far as the actors are concerned, Mr. Harvey is well-placed, chilling, like Jack Nicholson's crazy writer in The Shining, an absolute highlight, and then Saoirse. Ronan, compared to the freckled little girl in "Atonement", she has become more and more beautiful, and she has natural acting skills, and she will be a big Hollywood monster in the future.
