A very beautiful literary film, "Lovely Bones" is a science fiction film that understands the mixture of family affection and hatred. It is lovely to use the protagonist's confession as the clue of the whole film. The flashbacks and interludes are unique, making me sink into the edge of an unreal world. There are not too many bloody scenes, but I sweat coldly because the murderer and my father look at each other. The heart-pounding Chronicle of Hearts (love), but is deeply attracted by the magic of first love and the girl's sensitive and changeable psychology like a fox. It can be said that it is the result of the joint efforts of the filmmakers, writers, and actors. I am very grateful to see a film that reflects family affection and pure love.
The story is not old-fashioned, and the integration of technological elements makes the border of the entire virtual world magical and beautiful. Personally, I like the color selection and physical distribution of special effects production. It seems that the producer can grasp the meaning of things better. The lighthouses that appear in the film many times have appeared on the border of the world, on the walls of the sinful hut in the cornfield, and in the death dream of the heroine's younger brother. Bringing light and hope is the way home. It implies that the heroine is wandering on the boundary of the world, entangled with the real world, panicking in the underground hut in the cornfield, and implying that the heroine's younger brother once hung by a thread, wandering through the boundary of that illusory world. In fact, many foreshadowings make the border of the dream world become a virtual space of "real" existence in the film.
My personal point of view is that the characters in the film are not too messy. Like Susie's grandmother, an elegant and wild old woman with a charming charm, Susie can capture the same active pursuit of love as her grandmother. The fox-like white lie to deceive her boyfriend's sweating tricks, she is crazy like a grandmother, she chose to possess the black-haired girl in the last hour of her green years to make up for a crazy and precious kiss with her boyfriend, I think Susie and Grandmother is very similar. Just like the wonderful intergenerational inheritance, the characters of Susie and her mother are not reflected too much in the film, and more depicts the chasm between mother and daughter. Susie is closer to the gentle father with artistic cells. Talking through bottle art, however Susie's mother-related thing is a hand-woven cotton hat. The cotton hat represents the mother's silent and deep love for her daughter. Later, the hat became an important material evidence to confirm the identity of the victim, and at the same time became a memory key to the mother's pain...
Personally, I do think that the murderer (a pedophile hypocritical old man) died too cheaply for him, and the scenes were described too little and the ending was too abrupt. But realistically speaking, it would be scary for the author to be able to arrange an icicle in the film as a representative of God (justice) rather than a human being. Because a pervert who hides so well can easily escape the eyes of the police, a person with a certain identity without icicles may not be able to kill him. I think this is the only gratifying ending to this literary fantasy film.
What I like most is the most important word "love" that the film wants to express. It shows the greatness and irresistibility of family affection, and a small part is the passion of love. In the film, the heroine's house bracelet finally sank to the bottom of the sea, the heroine's sister gave up her life to steal the evidence to prove the murderer, the heroine's father fought against the murderer for her, and the heroine's mother returned to the family after accepting the reality, they are still the same. A skeleton, the lack of a lovely bone still cannot change the overall structure, and the regenerative power of the family fills the gap. From the beginning, the heroine's mentality was reluctant to leave because of hatred. She saw the trauma of the family in the process of revenge, the lonely figure of her boyfriend, and the girl with black hair who also liked boys. She chose to be with the girls who were killed. The children left this world together, and the mother's return made her realize that she will not be forgotten by the family and will not bring more pain to the family because of her... In the end, she gave up the cruel world...
The film is worth watching. I have watched it three times, and each time I see it, I have a different experience. Except for Susie and her family, I am more pitiful for the black-haired girl. She can feel Susie's pain and at the same time. Reserve a loving response to a boy for a while...
I hope girls can understand how to better protect themselves. After all, we live in a cruel world, without the borders of the beautiful world depicted by the author and the icicles that truly represent justice...
