——I AM.
The inscription has shown my respect for religion. As an atheist, I have no intention to provoke a war between atheists and theists.
I try to write this post only from the perspective of watching a movie.
I knew that this film was given to me by the educator Amway, but I didn't take it too seriously at first. Later, I saw the Chinese version of the promotional film in the theater, which made me interested.
But I don't know if I missed the schedule or what, so I didn't find out that it was released in theaters.
So recently, I finally found a high-definition version on the Internet and finally found out.
Ridley Scott, the big guy, if you're not familiar with it, I'll just name a few films, and you'll "snap" - "Alien", "Black Hawk Down", "American Gangster", "Prometheus", "Kingdom of Heaven"...
The films filmed by Director Lei are all blue-green and cold in tone, and most of them have a kind of otherworldly "epic feeling".
In this film, the majestic Egyptian city-state, the marinated Israeli slums, the brave and resolute Egyptian army, and the terrifying scenes of nature under the supernatural action, of course, the iconic blue-green color of Lei Dao is indispensable. Grim picture...
In order to highlight the epic sense, there are a lot of aerial shots with the perspective of God in the film. While the scene is magnificent and shocking, it seems that I have found the shadow of "Age of Empires".
As a religious story film, if non-religious people have to applaud after watching it, it can be said that the story is popular.
There is no exposition of Christian teachings in the film, but there is only a tyrannical contrast between human humility and nature, and this "nature" is naturally God.
The god appeared as a child, his clothes were tattered, and there were scars on his body, but his eyes were hot and firm, his tone was cold and majestic, and his gestures had a sense of being an expert in the world.
This can't help but remind me of a line from Wong Kar-wai in "The Grand Master": "The four taboos of martial arts, monks, Taoists, women, children!"
Beginning with the sentence "start now, you watch" by the child of God, Lei Dao focused on depicting the various disasters that God sent to Egypt in the film to highlight the insignificance of divine power and human beings, and also strongly implied that disrespecting God's will only A tragic end to a dead end.
Hollywood especially likes this kind of subconscious stimulation to achieve the "publicity purpose" of directors and screenwriters, rather than the scripted script of our Spring Festival Gala. I think this is the way our filmmakers should learn.
It is also a Monument to the People's Heroes. Chinese people must take an upside-down shot under the blue sky in any film, and then type a 180° camera movement against a few large characters in Phnom Penh (there are very few time-lapse photography in Tiananmen Square) On the other hand ,
Americans like to drive across Chang'an Avenue, use fast-moving cameras to shoot the night scene of the Heroes' Monument, and then follow the editing to enter the group portraits of the surrounding people or peaceful or happy and playful groups until the end of the picture.
The former is sublime, inviolable, majestic and awe-inspiring, while the latter is modern and approachable, showing a unique beauty (it is not necessarily that the Monument to the People's Heroes at night is not solemn or sacred).
The above is a small clip that a professional camera friend of mine showed me. The latter is a Beijing night in the eyes of ABC taken by his international student classmates. Well, in order to avoid starting a war, let's stop here.
The actors of the film are also very successful. Batman Bell plays the leading role, the supporting role is also the famous alien aunt Sigourney Weaver, and the golden supporting role Ben King who plays Gandhi and has a wonderful performance in "Schindler's List" sley.
Although the actors have backgrounds, when it comes to the performance of this film, I think it is a bit over-the-top.
Maybe the biblical stories, like the fairy tales I have written before, have to show characters in masks, otherwise it may make believers very dissatisfied. But for a general audience like me, it's a pity.
In the film, Bell basically copied Batman's performance skills - the transformation of the Egyptian prince (Batman's rich second-generation identity) to the poor leader (Batman himself),
the process is naturally complete under the arrangement of the plot and director, but The sense of repetition is too strong, and the audience's sense of substitution will naturally be partially discounted. In the second half of the film, Bell slowly grew a beard and became more and more like a prophet...
Let's ignore the performances of the rest of the actors. There are occasional flashes of inspiration, but after all, this film does not rely on acting to conquer the audience... Non-religious people watch special effects, but religious people actually watch special effects...
The soundtrack is full of The style of the Middle East reminds me of the game "Prince of Persia", which is quite satisfactory.
In the eyes of non-religious Chinese people, this film can be regarded as a standard entertainment film. As for digging deeper, I think it is better to read the original book of Egypt...
Originally, the film review planned to end here.
But in the end, I will talk about the Exodus in my own eyes from the perspective of a non-believer.
Well, there may be some religious issues involved...please ignore...
I have read part of the biblical story and admittedly the story and the process are incomplete and not as religious as the believers.
I think from the perspective of a "story", the "Old Testament" should be the best fantasy novel in human history because of its big brains, novel themes, extensive content, and ingenious storytelling techniques.
After thinking about it later, it is after all the heritage of human civilization that has been passed down for thousands of years. After countless generations of people's filling and completion, its position in human history is rightful.
Exodus is one of the most important constituent stories in the Old Testament. In addition to telling about the Israelites escaping from Egyptian slavery, the most important thing is that Jehovah is the real protagonist of this story.
Through the power he exhibited in Egypt, the Israelites began to believe in him, calling him holy.
Here I would like to point out that many friends who do not understand religion seem to have the impression that "Jews do not believe in God", for example, Hitler used religion to slander Jews, etc., but it is wrong to say so.
Christianity is originally a branch of Judaism. The most important difference in doctrine is that Judaism believes that the Messiah (Christ) has not really come to the world, while Christianity believes that Jesus is the Messiah.
The word "Old Testament" that we are familiar with is the classic of Judaism. Later, the scripture code compiled by the Christians by themselves is called the "New Testament".
You know, the religious roots of Israel’s founding come from the book of Exodus.
After the Jews took control of Hollywood, most directors began to prefer to bleach Jews in the secular world (they were not originally black), and Exodus is an example.
The film depicts the brutality and brutality of the Egyptians towards the Israelites, and also shows the indomitable spirit of the Israelites and their unyielding determination to fight against the rulers.
As for the Prophet Moses, one of the protagonists of the film, I feel that there are some entanglements and contradictions in the growth of the general-prisoner-prophet.
It is said that Moses is a somewhat contradictory person because of the screenwriter's reasons. First, he is somewhat high-level, and secondly, Moses almost conflicts with everyone in the film.
At the beginning of the film, Moses' "destiny theory" was created, and it was actually obtained from the sacrifice of the Egyptian witch, but Moses openly laughed at the witch's divination, which was a conflict between Moses and the Egyptian gods.
On the battlefield, when Ramses was rescued by Moses, he even picked up the javelin and pointed it at Moses. I think he was hesitating whether to get rid of Moses. This was the conflict between Moses and Ramses.
Moses wanted the nobles to treat Israeli slaves kindly, which was a conflict between Moses and the ruling class.
Moses left his wife and children for his faith, which was the conflict between Moses and his family.
For the resistance of the Israelites, Moses could only watch the tragic death of innocent people. This was the conflict between Moses and the Israelites.
Moses wanted Pharaoh Ramses to fall into the ocean of people's war, but it was obvious that God was too lazy to follow Gandhi's approach, and directly lowered ten eels. This was a conflict between Moses and God.
Moses led the Israelites to successfully cross the Red Sea, but found that the Israelites did not have a pious envelope god, but offered sacrifices to other gods. Moses had to write down the Ten Commandments, which was a conflict between Moses and the pagans.
You see, maybe the prophets are tangled, after all, in the eyes of ordinary people, they are lunatics. But this kind of entanglement and contradiction is based on Moses' constant denial of the past and forced to admit the reality.
Moses resisted, but his resistance was so insignificant. For a non-religious person like me, it's a bit uncomfortable - I think he can succeed without these conflicts (except for opening the red sea).
This, perhaps, is the fundamental difference between the concept of "man will conquer the sky" and "heaven will conquer man".
Another point is about the description of the other protagonist of the film - God.
Of course, it is true that the ruling class in Egypt is extortionate, but in the film, whether God's actions are a bit excessive, this varies from person to person.
We can understand that God's various revenge disasters are all to punish the infidels, but as a non-religious person, I express that I can't accept it...
Moses in the film also disagree with God's actions, but Lei Dao is obviously a Through the dialogue between Moses and God, the audience is told that the revolution must shed blood, and happiness can only be won by oneself, no matter what the means.
The extended meaning of Lei Dao is probably: God just gives you guidance, and in the process of pursuing happiness, it will appear as needed, even if the will is not necessarily recognized by others (for example, several Joshuas saw Moses speaking to a stone to himself. language picture), but it must be followed.
This kind of thinking must naturally be supported by belief, otherwise it will liberate all mankind.
In the film, he plays the child of God, his eyes are not only hot and firm, but also full of contempt.
He always squinted at Moses and the Egyptian city-state, and yelled at Moses for the Egyptians' knees. He sneered at Moses' resistance, or Simply being too lazy to answer, and saying "I don't have the patience" to deny Moses' theory of peaceful revolution, with a face of authority and willfulness like a child.
I don't know what Lei Dao's idea was, but I laughed anyway.
The cruelty of God in the film is no less than that of the rulers of Egypt, but even more cruel and vicious.
Maybe it's the ideology of the Chinese people that will not bring disaster to the next generation. I don't agree with this idea of "If you don't obey me, I will kill your whole family" (what is the difference between this and the Green Church?!).
I can't help but think of the actions of a group of robbers who attacked India from Europe under the banner of God during the Crusades, and then think of what the Western powers did in the modern world, I can only think of the idea of Lei Dao's propaganda" Haha" dealt with it.
To be honest, after watching this film, I realized more and more the deep meaning of the lyrics in the Internationale, "Never rely on any savior, nor on a fairy emperor, to create the happiness of the tribe, it is all up to us".
Thank you, Director Lei, in terms of mission, you are really a pig teammate of Christian Amway...
For me personally: believe it or not, don't believe it.
Well, at the end, I especially thank you for reading this far! If there is anything in the above text that affects your beliefs, please look forward to Haihan.
Director Lei should focus on producing "Prometheus 2: Garden of Eden", this film has been put on my schedule (although it will be released in April 2016), I hope I can continue to write reviews about Director Lei then .
