Desire

In the 5th century AD, foreign invaders occupied the island of England and left behind a mythical epic "Beowulf". The whole poem has a complete structure, vivid words and exquisite grammar. It is called the three heroic epics of European literature together with the French "Roland's Song" and the German "Song of the Nibelungen". Based on this poem, the film relives the immortal legend of the mighty warrior Beowulf.

I didn't know this movie was a cartoon before watching it, and the fantastic experience brought by high technology is amazing. Especially the scene where Angelina Jolie plays the banshee emerges from the water, her sexy and charming figure is full of temptation.

One of the reasons why I like watching movies is that I like listening to various stories since I was a child. Mysterious, strange, suspenseful, interesting...and this story is about desire, for power, for success, for honor, and for beauty. What human beings cannot get rid of is desire. The so-called "no desire and no desire" is just an ideal. Those who reach that level are estimated to ascend to heaven and become gods. But the reason why people are different lies in how to face temptation, control their desires, and how to introspect and make up for it. In this sense, Beowulf is a hero.

Beowulf quotes

  • Unferth: Good night, Beowulf. Watch out for sea monsters. I'm sure your imagination must be teeming with them.

  • Yrsa: They say he ripped the monster's limb off with his bare hands.

Gitte: [giggles] I wonder if Beowulf's strength is only in his arms, or in his legs as well... all three of them

    [both giggle]

Wealthow: Well, after the feast tonight I'm sure you can find out, Gitte.

Gitte: Me? It's not me he wants, my queen.
