Environmental science fiction ethics film

I didn't want to write anything, but I saw some people's comments and discussed it with you. To talk about the film itself, the title can be called "environmental-themed doomsday science fiction film", but seeing that some people said they hated the black child in the film, it was temporarily changed to an ethics film. Let's start with this black kid, let's call him Little Black. In the film, Xiao Hei is a child of a single-parent family, and he is not a single parent in the general sense. His mother died young, his father died and died, leaving only a stepmother to take him to live. A child in such a living situation will at least have a stage of indifference, withdrawn, and unfriendly, and this is also shown in the film. So if the audience doesn't like such a role, it just proves that the role is successful.

Let's talk about the theme of environmental protection. The basic point of this film is that human beings are harmful to the earth, the earth is innocent, and human beings must make changes. If human beings do not make changes, then human beings will be destroyed, but please leave the earth. So how can humans change? After the aliens discussed with the representative of earth scientists (the old man who won the Nobel Prize), they only talked about the death and the afterlife, and were interrupted. So, the basic meaning of this film is, please take care of the earth, don't let it end. But if you don't get it, you can't end it, and human beings can't recognize it.

Why did the aliens stop and destroy human beings in the end, maybe thanks to the discussion with the earth scientists, and also saw the love of Xiao Hei's stepmother for Xiao Hei, Xiao Hei's nostalgia for his dead father, etc. This is where the ethical plot is involved, but the performance is not strong. It can only be said to find some reason to prevent the aliens from leaving so inexplicably.

Finally, let me say a few words about the female US government official. She is only a symbol of human hegemony and aggression. Some people say that she is a copycat, which is completely meaningless.

The director really boiled all the clichés of sci-fi disaster films in one pot

It turned out to be talking about environmental protection, and I talked about it once in the 1950s

The Day the Earth Stood Still quotes

  • Klaatu: [repeated line with minor variations] I need to get back to the city.

  • [Seated at a McDonald's, Klaatu begins speaking to Mr. Wu in Mandarin]

Klaatu: You've been out of contact for a long time.

Mr. Wu: I had a dangerous assignment. This is hostile territory.

Klaatu: I've noticed. I was hoping I could reason with them.

Mr. Wu: I'm afraid they are not a reasonable race. I've been living amongst them for seventy years now. I know them well.

    Klaatu: And?

Mr. Wu: Any attempt to intercede with them would be futile. They are destructive, and they won't change.

Klaatu: Is that your official report?

Mr. Wu: The tragedy is, they know what's going to become of them.

[Both Klaatu and Wu turn to look at Helen, Jacob and Wu's grandson who are seated at another table]

Mr. Wu: They sense it. But they can't seem to do anything about it.

Klaatu: It's decided then. I'll begin the process as soon as possible. We should make preparations for our departure.

KlaatuMr. Wu: [They switching to speaking English]

    Mr. Wu: I'm staying.

    Klaatu: You can't stay here.

Mr. Wu: I can and I will.

Mr. Wu: If you stay, you'll die.

Mr. Wu: I know. This is my home now.

Klaatu: You yourself called them a destructive race.

Mr. Wu: That's true. But still, there is another side. You see, I... I love them. It is a very strange thing. I... I... I can't find a way to explain it to you. For many years I cursed my luck for being sent here. Human life is difficult. But as this life is coming to an end... I consider myself lucky... to have lived it.
