End of Episode 5: The Duke of Windsor watches niece Victoria's coronation live on TV with Mrs Simpson and a group of social circle friends. He went out into the yard alone and played the bagpipes.
Because the Duke of Windsor fell in love with a twice-divorced American woman, he had to give up the throne of England to run away for love. So he hated his country, hated his relatives in London, but he was also occasionally homesick, and he used the bagpipe to soothe the nostalgia.
Mrs Simpson heard the sound of the bagpipes and went to the window and saw the Duke of Windsor's back. The camera turned to a close-up of the Duke of Windsor's face, and the two lines of tears could not be stopped. This time it is not homesickness, but a reflection of all his inner thoughts that cannot be told to others.
This is an excellent British drama. The production of the TV series is excellent, and the performances of the actors are remarkable.
