"It's not about being disheartened or swallowing a dark secret it's just you or me, magnifying the ego"

That's what Susanna said near the end of the movie, and it's one of my favorite lines in the movie.

Susanna in the movie is diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. She will confuse dreams with life, and she will want to steal things when she has cash. , she would feel like she was on a moving train when she was sitting still, and she would even sleep with a family professor. In the end, she swallowed a whole bottle of aspirin and drank vodka, and was sent to the rescue unconsciously. Even during the rescue, he kept emphasizing that his wrists had no bones... It is worth mentioning that the plot switching in the front of the movie was abrupt, which also brought us into the feelings of the heroine.

At the end, I was wondering if Susanna was sick. Is she really crazy? Because compared to other people in the mental hospital, she was simply normal.

Lisa

The first is the antisocial Lisa, she likes to run away from time to time, and then deliberately gets caught back, although crazy but cool and charming (Noni kisses yeast there is really too much love!!) But when she sees once When the patient committed suicide, she did not feel panic and fear like Susanna, she just watched it all calmly, mocked "idiot", and then took the money from people's pockets and left, she was cold, numb, and thought she was free But she was imprisoned by herself. As Susanna said, Lisa could only feel that she was alive when she was in the mental hospital, which is why she came back every time she escaped.

Daisy

Another very regrettable character is Daisy. When she first appeared on the stage, I was attracted by her beauty. I don't know how to describe how she made me feel. Sensitive appearance, she is the person with the most obvious psychological problems in the whole movie. She sleeps in a room alone (everyone has roommates), relies too much on drugs, and does not eat anything except the roast chicken made by her father, Before eating, she likes to take out the chicken bones, arrange them neatly, and put them under the bed. When she refuses to eat, there are other people next to her. It feels like she wants to die a long time ago, but she has no suitable excuse, so she just keeps going like this. Living in her own world, until the deepest part of her heart, the secret she didn't want to be brought up was revealed by Lisa. She seemed to have a good reason. That day, she didn't go back emotionally, but in the first Played "The end of the world" one morning the next day, then cut his wrists and hanged himself in the room alone, taking his own life.

When I first saw it, I thought it was Lisa's words that stimulated her and caused her to commit suicide, but is this really the case? Are there really people who are so vulnerable that they want to take their own life after a few words? Lisa is indeed a part of the reason, but Daisy's own psychological problems are the most fundamental. At that time, Daisy had been discharged from the hospital and lived in an apartment arranged by her father, but she was still dependent on drugs and her arms were still scarred. Her illness is not getting better, even if Lisa didn't say those words that day, she will kill herself one day, but that day has not come yet.

Susanna

Back to Susanna, she is lazy, depraved, rebellious, and has no goals for the future. This is actually the status quo of many people. At the same time, I am also a lazy person who always wants to escape from reality, but it does not mean that having these characteristics is crazy, ordinary People do this too, but when you get serious in these areas, you may be defined as having a psychological problem, Susanna is said to be a lazy, selfish, rebellious, and wants to drive herself crazy, think carefully It seems that it is indeed the same thing, she longs for love, but at the same time does not cherish it, she is confused about the future and always wants to escape from reality, but when she sees Daisy committing suicide, she is not as indifferent as Lisa, Feeling the fragility of life while she condemned Lisa for being callous, after thinking about it, she finally decided to move forward, so she finally began to take good care of her.

There are also a few minor supporting characters in the movie, such as Polly, who disfigured herself with gasoline at the age of ten, and Georgina, who is a liar. Everyone has some psychological problems, which is why they are called lunatics.

So what does it mean to be "crazy"? Maybe everyone has the potential to become a lunatic, just like the movie said, when you keep magnifying yourself, you may become a lunatic in the eyes of people.

Girl, Interrupted quotes

  • Daisy: You're just jealous, Lisa... because I got better... because I was released... because I have a chance... at a life.

Lisa: They didn't release you 'cause you're better, Daisy, they just gave up. You call this a life, hmm? Taking Daddy's money, buying your dollies and your knick-knacks. And eating his fucking chicken, fattening up like a prize fucking heifer? You changed the scenery, but not the fucking situation - and the warden makes house calls. And everybody knows. Everybody knows. That he fucks you. What they don't know... is that you like it. Hmm? You like it.

Susanna: [to Lisa] Shut the fuck up!

Lisa: [to Susanna] Hey man, it's cool, it's okay. It's fine, it's fucking fine! A man is a dick is a man is a dick is a chicken... is a dad... a Valium, a speculum, whatever, whatever.

    [then turns to Daisy]

Lisa: You like being Mrs. Randone. Probably all you've ever known.

    Daisy: Have fun in Florida.

[she goes upstairs to her room]

  • Janet: I want my fucking clothes!

Valerie: Then you'll have to eat something, won't you?

Janet: [singing] Oh Lordy, pick a bale o' cotton / Oh Lordy, pick a bale o' hay / Gotta jump down spin around pick a bale o' cotton / Jump down spin around, pick a bale o' hay...

Valerie: [to Susanna] She thinks that bothers me.
