At the end of last year, on the special program of the 20th anniversary of "Harry Potter", JK Rowling was not invited because of "transphobia" criticism, and Eddie the little freckled also said that it was a mistake to play a transgender role in "The Danish Girl". However, pushing forward 5 or 6 years, it was this role that he won the Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, BAFTA Award and other Best Actor nominations. Aside from the controversy over whether to support equality or self-preservation, the little freckles and Alicia Vikander (played by Gerda) who agree with his voice did contribute quite well in the film.

The film is like a delicate work of art, with symmetrical composition and low-saturation oil painting tones, giving people a sense of harmony and beauty.

Delicate footage paired with a eloquent narrative, complemented by a poignant soundtrack, tells the story of a brave Danish artist, Einar/Lily, who becomes her inner self through sex reassignment surgery with the company and help of his wife.

Before Lily appeared, she existed in Einar. Einar is a shy man. When he smiles, his brows are full of lightness and softness. He acts like a spoiled child to his wife, resents social situations, and unconsciously touches the texture of women's clothing. When he half pushed into the long stockings and ballet shoes, he first carefully rubbed the dance skirt, his eyes seemed to be sucked in, and then he naturally stretched out his toes and smiled at his wife.

Einar has always depicted her hometown of Vejle in her memory. This is the only place Lily is awakened in her memory. As the female personality appears again and again, the picture changes from a cloudy, snow-covered swamp to one that can reflect The lake water with tree shadows is soft, bright and full of life.

Gerda is undoubtedly Lily's greatest support and encouragement. Many clips in the film can reflect their strong and profound feelings. They have been married for more than six years. They still mention how they met and fell in love at parties. The eyes that look at each other when they are joking and laughing are full of strong love. Even Einar replaces Gerda for Gerda. When he went to the dance company to find Oola, Oola teased him, "His eyes can only look at a woman."

Gerda is different from other women of that era. She is intelligent, bold, rebellious, with little makeup, and hates her husband to use her as a talking point. The huge paintings are full of messy enthusiasm and have a bold interpretation of the female gaze. She has a strong desire to conquer, which was fully revealed when she had sex with Einar. She turned over in a strong posture and pressed Einar under her body. Differences in character make them attractive to each other.

Gerda thought it was her own little joke that made things irreversible, so she cried and begged Lily not to show up again. But when she saw Lily sitting at the dining table crying, her first reaction was to care about her loved ones. Later, in order to rescue the painful Einar, Gerda found his childhood playmate Hans, and searched for a doctor to accompany him to complete the painful operation. No longer sharing the same bed as before, but only touching Lily's hand through the tulle.

Even Lily herself couldn't help but ask, how do I deserve so much love?

The parting scene at the train station was very touching. My friend Hans said to him, I have not loved many people in my life, you are two of them, Gerda restrained and enjoyed the kiss from Einar for the last time, with tears in his eyes, but the corners of his mouth were trying hard Put on a smile and show support for Einar.

Death may be the best relief, Lily left this world with a complete female body, without facing criticism from others.

So, let it fly. 2021.8.28 read

The Danish Girl quotes

  • Dr. Hexler: Tell me about Lili... Where did she come from?

    Einar Wegener: Inside of me.

  • Gerda Wegener: It's hard for a man to be looked at by a woman. Women are used to it, of course, but for a man to submit to a woman's gaze - it's unsettling. Although I believe there's some pleasure to be had from it, once you yield.
