Don’t comment too much on the film itself. The protagonist of the story can be Conan who is "there is only one truth", or it can be the murderous Jin Tian Yiyi, or the grandmother; but if the POE horror story is just to illustrate people Evil (as IVAN said) or to satisfy readers' desire for blood (as understood in the film), then POE must be disappointing. POE’s reflection on humans and industrial society has already crossed his time, even ours. In many POE horror novels, the most common one is "using the most sensible means to do the most insane things" Crazy and The confusion is covered by reason and science, and mankind finally walks to the grave that he dug for himself, without hope, let alone redemption.
The favorite in the film is the poem that POE wrote to EMILY before his death, as follows:
Take this kiss upon thy brow,
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me anow,
You are not wrong,
Who deem that my days have been a dream,
All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.
ALL WHAT WE SEE IS BUT A DREAM, NOTHING MORE! When
I see a dream within a dream, I always think of Space; Is it also inspired by POE?
