Asteroids hitting Earth are a common theme in disaster movies. The water-blue asteroid is called Melancholia.
Why is Justin so calm compared to his sister Claire? As she said, "I know things", she knew that the depression star would hit the earth. There is another reason - weddings. From the moment the wedding car gets stuck in a country bend, Justin loses control. After a whole set of tedious wedding procedures, although brother-in-law John spent a lot of money for the wedding, although her sister made a strict schedule for her wedding, although the boss promoted her to art director, although her fiancé bought her a piece Apple Orchard... The desire behind every gift is just around the corner. The brother-in-law complains that Justin's weird behavior is embarrassing him (because he pretents to be a decent guy, the latter plots mention that); the boss calls Justin a 'workaholic' and asks her to think of a slogan for marriage; the fiancé shows more traits It's not good at words + animal nature; not to mention parents, one hates marriage and one enters old age to show mercy, and can't even remember his daughter's name... So Justine said "life on earth is evil". So disappointed that she had nothing to remember.
And others are different. Sister Claire regards children as a concern; brother-in-law's concern is "face". At first he was extremely optimistic and conceited, but collapsed in the stables before the planet hit the earth. I don't know whether it was because I couldn't accept my wrong prediction of Depression Star or the fear of death, so I quietly left my wife and children first.
Although Melancholia brought Justin the doom mentioned above, it also has healing and purifying effects. It appears as an "other" to save Justin from the narcissistic mire (Han Bingzhe 2019). So when Justine faced Melancholia, instead of falling into the same anxiety and fear as everyone else, she caressed herself on the riverbank. She is satisfied and feels love from the bottom of her heart, then for a moment she should be eager for the depression star to collide head-on, so as to achieve intercourse in a sense.
