Mud - 8/10

This is the first time I have seen director Jeff Nichols's film, and I like his style very much. Such independent low-budget films often have the strongest expression of real life. The story of the film is simple, but it is told vividly with ups and downs. The friendship and chemistry between the two little boys and the protagonist Mud reminds me of the movie Stand By Me, (the little boy Neckbone even resembles River Phoenix), and like Stand By Me, the three protagonists in this film are all eye-catching . If a bad man can make a girl grow into a woman, then what this film is about is the price it takes for a boy to grow into a man. When the protagonist Ellis said Can you be my girlfriend, there were bursts of laughter in the theater. There was no doubt that this was the audience's ruthless ridicule of a little boy's naivety, but who could understand him? Courage and sincerity? In the face of love, men are born later than women. Often when you say goodbye to your innocence, you truly learn to give up.
