It is not easy to understand Bergman's metaphysical films. But I still want to compliment the film.
The language of the lens is solemn and beautiful. The lines are like poetry, full of literature and philosophy. This is a film about reflecting on faith, love and death.
There are a few scenes that are very touching:
1. Shortly at the beginning, the painter painted a prophecy about the devil on the wall: the plague is rampant, people flog themselves, and ask God for mercy and confession.
Soon after performing on the stage, people scorned, smashed eggs into the distance, and burst into laughter.
A group of people passed by, some carrying crosses, some flogging themselves, some disabled, some praying, and some weeping. People knelt down in prayer and weeping, and followed the procession.
2. People in the tavern talk about the sins of man and the plague that has run rampant from the coast, and reflect on the sins of man, the coming of the end, the existence and promise of God.
He turned his head and followed the blacksmith to coax the actor to dance, pretend to be a bear, and beat him for fun.
3. Actors and couples who are full of love and faith. Actors can often see all kinds of fantastic things: in the afternoon sun, they see the Virgin Mary holding the baby Jesus who just learned to walk, the chess game between Death and the knights, and finally being pulled in. The seven people from the skeleton camp held hands, and the one who pulled the six people tied behind them at the beginning was the god of death.
The wife always laughs at her husband's daydream words after listening to his description, then smiles at him tenderly and hugs him. Tell him she loves him.
The knight's entourage is the embodiment of justice, fighting injustice everywhere to save others. But do not believe in God and love, hate the world's ugly but powerless.
The knight was tired and confused. Repeatedly questioning and thinking about God and the legitimacy of beliefs. Same with all of us: If God exists, why are we not answering our prayers, touching him, feeling him, and why does God allow evil to flourish in this land? He will definitely lose the chess game with Death, because he is confused, suspicious, and confused, and such a defeat has been revealed from the very beginning.
This film is a good metaphysical explanation of the meaning of life. If we all embrace and admire beauty, faith and firmness, we will not lose ourselves in the path of life. The source of life should be the same.
