Popcorn and explosions

I haven't seen a movie in the cinema for a full year, and it happens that I have a one-month vacation in August to go back to China to visit relatives. I also want to go to the cinema to find some good movies to watch. But to be honest, I was disappointed by the filming in theaters during this period. In the words of a younger sister in China: She has already watched all the bad movies. The quality of the films "Four Famous Catchers", "The Legend of the White-Haired Witch" and "Little Times 3" is impossible to evaluate because I haven't watched them, but at least these films can't arouse my urge to go to the cinema. Not just because of the movie tickets, but more importantly, I don't think it's necessary to spend two hours of my time on these movies.
Seeing that I am about to leave my hometown, I still have to watch one movie. I chose this "The Expendables 3". In any case, I have seen both the first and the second of this work, and I think I can still experience some fun in the process of watching the movie.
Enough nonsense, let's get down to business. Overall viewing experience, this is a typical Hollywood commercial popcorn movie. Typical until I got out of the movie theater and it was completely gone in my mind. There is no plot at all, the old-fashioned narrative structure, there is not much acting performance, and the lines are chewy. As for the performance of the scenes and action scenes, there is no breakthrough. Compared with the first and second films, the worldview and expression of the entire structure have not been shown more. This form of expression is embedded and unfolded like a formula: the rescue mission at the beginning—the main mission in the middle fails—at the end, all the team members end up killing the army of a small country together—everyone is happy. As far as the performances are concerned, it can be seen that the old actors are working hard to earn pensions, but their age is not forgiving, and several action scenes still obviously use stand-ins. The performance of the new generation of actors did add a touch of light to this film, and it can be regarded as a rare breakthrough point in "The Expendables 3". At the same time, in terms of actors, this drama still has the same problem as the first two movies - too many big names, and too few scenes for each actor. Schwarzenegger and Jet Li were basically able to shoot from the helicopter, and in the end, Harrison Ford replaced Bruce Willis in the first two films and became the government's liaison with Barney. Although the final helicopter battle is a selling gas field, it still gives people a bright feeling. (But one thing is unclear, can that kind of helicopter go from the US to Eastern Europe?) The moment Mel Gibson's villain puts down his sniper rifle after his appearance, I always feel that he should shout "Freedom!" This is perfect. . Banderas is one of the two points in the film. After all, it is very appropriate to add some comedy elements to the action scenes. The pair of audience members in the back row of me said when they saw his performance: Is he a bean? Uh... I don't know what Zoro-sama thinks. Needless to say, Stallone, who is a model worker, shared a whole film with Jason Statham.
As a popcorn movie, this movie is qualified. After all, no one has high expectations or wants to see any philosophy of life. When we go to the cinema to watch this kind of film, it is mostly just to free our brains for one or two hours of nonsense, and when we have enough rest, we have to go out of the cinema to do what we have to do. As far as action movies are concerned, I think the control of the bloody scenes is good. The whole movie does not see too violent scenes. Although there are many dead people, there is not much bloodshed. In this regard, it can expand the audience of this film and make it acceptable to more female audiences and relatively young audiences.
Finally, let's talk about expectations. Personally, I feel that the Expendables series will have a fourth part sooner or later. After all, these old actors can still use their residual heat, and the addition of the new generation of actors has also given the show more space. The cast shouldn't be stronger (and not necessary), but the proportion of female characters can be increased slightly. As far as the plot is concerned, it can set up a larger world view and change the narrative type at the same time. For example, the old stalk of subverting the US government and Manhattan as a battlefield can also be picked up and used.
Having said so much, in the final analysis, I feel that this is a movie that can be watched or not. It is best not to have high expectations when watching it, and just keep calm. After all, we ordinary audiences go to the movies to relax and not to compete.
