Daughter is a pain he can't erase

The first dream in the film: The male protagonist Curtis stands alone in front of the garage, surrounded by gentle winds and whirling trees. Suddenly, when the camera turned, we, like Curtis, saw a huge mushroom cloud rising in the distance, and then thunder and lightning, heavy rain poured, raindrops hit Curtis's hands, leaving yellow stains. What we need to pay attention to in this dream is that when Curtis sees this scene, the expression on his face is more of astonishment than panic. Even when the yellow rain hit his hands, he tried to smell it. In the close-up of Curtis raising his head, the dream ended.

The second dream: Curtis and her daughter are in the yard, there is still a huge storm in the distance, and there is still thunder and lightning around. The barking pet Red broke free from the rope and bit Curtis's arm hard. Curtis wakes up and the dream ends.
The third dream: Curtis and her daughter are in the car, the wind is roaring outside the car, and the rain is raging. The rain hit people hard to see the road in front of them. Curtis hurt himself to avoid the people on the road. Suddenly, the window of the car was smashed, and Curtis's daughter Hannah was snatched away. Curtis was held tightly, suffocated, and awakened. The dream is over.
The fourth dream: Curtis and her daughter are in the room, and the rain is roaring outside the window. The daughter looked at the stranger outside the window, Curtis took her daughter into his arms and called the stranger away. The room suddenly began to vibrate, and all the furnishings in the room were suspended and suddenly fell, and Curtis was awakened. The dream is over.

The fifth dream was indirectly narrated by Curtis: On the construction site where thunder and storms were intertwined, the workmate Dewart had a strange face, and he was hit with an axe.

The sixth dream: Interior view, the window is still stormy. At home, Curtis's wife Samantha is soaked and her expression is numb. She looked at the knife beside her, but she did not lift it under Curtis's reminder. This dream did not directly express Curtis's mood after waking up. The dream is over.

The seventh dream: Curtis was holding his daughter on the street, the birds flew weirdly, and a bird died on the side of the road. This time Curtis was not awakened, because a storm really happened in reality, and Samantha woke Curtis up, so Curtis did not finish this dream.

These are the seven dreams that have appeared in the film. The reason why it takes such great effort to repeat these seven dreams is because through these dreams, we may be able to more or less understand the causes of Curtis' mental illness.
First of all, we can compare the first dream with the following six dreams. In the same storm, Curtis's performance in dreams and reactions in reality are completely different. The reason is simple: in the first dream, no one is hurt. But in the next second, third, and fourth dreams, daughter Hannah is present, and her daughter may be directly or potentially injured. Curtis does his best to protect her daughter. Okay, here comes the argument. I personally think that it is the dumb daughter that makes Curtis bear a heavy psychological burden and makes Curtis doubt his own psychology and life. After the second dream, Curtis shut Red out of the house. The apparent reason seemed to be that he was bitten by Red in his dream and he woke up in pain for a whole day. However, Red is not the same for his daughter. Kind of danger? Curtis told her daughter not to play with Red several times. Isn't this a kind of subconscious protection for her daughter? The fourth dream is particularly important. As Curtis wets the bed after waking up, he gradually confused the relationship between dreams and reality, began to expand the shelter, store a lot of food, and go to the doctor to hope that his "illness" would be relieved. Gradually, whether it was reading psychology books on her own or her mother who suspected that she had a history of mental illness passed the illness to herself, Curtis could no longer look at life as normal as before. As a result, Curtis's psychological and spiritual problems really appeared. Even if he saw normal thunder and lightning, he felt abnormal. Slowly, this disease swallowed his life, so he had a nightmare with his co-workers, and even his most trusted wife became a potential danger (but judging from the result of the sixth dream, The wife's role in comforting and supporting Curtis is still very large). The fifth and sixth seem to have nothing to do with the daughter, but in fact they are indirectly caused by the huge pressure that the daughter put on Curtis. You may want to ask, since my daughter has grown up like this, she will have psychological problems long ago, so she has to wait until this time? It is true that Curtis faces tremendous pressure every day, but there is no incentive to release it. And the first dream in the opening gave him a reason to doubt about life. He was afraid to think about some things. There was nothing at all, but the more he thought about it, the more terrifying it became. In the face of danger, the first person you think of must be the one who misses your mind every day. This also explains why there are daughters in the second, third, and fourth dreams. The later coworkers and wives were nothing more than the result of Curtis's expansion of this strange idea. If Curtis was not awakened by his wife in the seventh dream, then the one who died on the side of the road may be

I have to admit that these things above are all nonsense. I haven't seen any Take Shelter review author who has the same opinion as me. After reading this, you can wake up just by looking at it as a joke. tired.

Let's talk about the normal content of comments: When I first saw Take Shelter more than half a year ago, I was deeply shocked by Michael Shannon's acting skills. Looking at it now, I feel more subtle. Whether it’s the interpretation of the expression that should have been exaggerated in a dream, or the psychological process of step by step towards the abyss in reality, Michael has been shown to be subtle, leaving no traces. I personally think that Michael’s performance in Take Shelter was 2011. Of all the performances I have seen in 2015, it is second only to Michelle Williams and Michael Fassbender. Photography is especially commendable. Many long shots are used to cover the low sky to express the protagonist’s depressed psychology.
As for the last plot in the film about the actual coming of the storm, I initially over-interpreted it as the eighth dream in the film (for this reason, I tried to find a lot of evidence and logical relationship), but later it changed to the mainstream view. However, this film that dealt with people really didn't like it, and originally discussed the psychology, turned into a specious science fiction film in the end, which really feels a bit nondescript. Maybe it's to leave more thoughts for the audience? I don't understand the intention of the screenwriter.

Finally, let’s talk a little bit more. Sometimes we may think of some problems ourselves. We often say “bystanders are clear”, but it is difficult to really think about the problems that happen to ourselves like a bystander. Don't let small problems roll into big snowballs, don't let the mistakes you have made continue to punish yourself, maybe it is a good medicine for a relaxed life?

A new interpretation of "Noah's Ark": I am crazy or the world is crazy, only the end will give the answer. On the beach and in the shelter can be seen as two very different endings, depending on your angle. The causal relationship between social environment and unfounded worries is more terrifying than the disaster itself.

I may not fully understand the director's meaning, but it is obvious that the male protagonist is struggling in the dream prophecy so that outsiders do not understand it. The suspense is enlarged step by step and finally comes true. The pace of the first hour is slow, and the male protagonist's acting skills are quite good. old-fashioned.
