What a beautiful story this is. After watching it seriously today, I felt that many plots of the movie were always a bit familiar. Only then did I realize that this kind of story was imitated by many later filmmakers, but the only thing that could not be imitated was that Chaplin’s innate bitterness temperament. When he was released from prison, the look of loss that he did not recognize with the person he loved was heart-wrenching. At the end, I was deeply afraid that the heroine would really fall in love with the handsome and rich man who came to buy flowers. Fortunately, the director gave this poor and kind man a happy ending.
