The director of this film is Damien Chazelle, a young director. I didn’t pay much attention to his personal information before. When I found out that he was born in 1985, I was shocked, because he directed “Boom Drummer” and “La La Land”. It is a superb work. Looking at the "Moon" shot by others and looking at the "Earth" shot by our post-80s directors, the gap is really embarrassing.
The film focuses on the life of legendary American astronaut Neil Armstrong, focusing on his journey to becoming the first man to land on the moon between 1961 and 1969, while also showing humans on the most dangerous cosmic exploration journey in history. The opening chapter starts from the subjective perspective of Commander Gao. Commander Gao made a forced landing in the desert during the test flight, followed by the death of Commander Gao’s youngest daughter, and the whole family fell into grief. Commander Gao wanted to change this situation and was grounded by the original unit. He resolutely chose NASA's Gemini program to prepare for the Apollo program to land on the moon. After a series of near-death training, his companion Elliot crashed while driving a trainer. Soon, he and his colleagues boarded Gemini 8, the first test completed the docking in space, which is also the first step of the moon landing plan. After the docking was completed, when everyone was immersed in jubilation, there was a problem with the spacecraft, and the near-death training came in handy , the spaceship is churning at the speed of one revolution per second in space, and the colleague has fainted. Commander High made an emergency response in such an extreme situation to save the situation and returned to land. After a series of investigations, the organization finally confirmed this. It was not Commander High's human error, but a mechanical failure. Commander High and his colleagues officially joined the Apollo moon landing program. Later, Commander High attended the White House banquet on behalf of the astronauts. At the same time, his colleagues were conducting a spacecraft cabin test. As a result, three colleagues were burned alive. Commander High survived, but he was burdened with the unfinished career pressure of his colleagues . Later, during the experiment of the lunar lander, the aircraft could not land safely, and Commander Gao used the seat ejection + parachute to save his life. Soon after, Commander Gospel was about to enter Apollo 11. The uncertain future of life and death put great pressure on Commander Gospel's wife. Of course, everyone knew that Armstrong, played by Commander Gospel, successfully leaped a giant step beyond the human race on the moon. , After returning to Earth, the film ends with the high commander's wife meeting the high commander in the isolation room.
The whole story seems to tell the story of how a hero is made, but looking at the details of the film and the language of the shots, the director satirizes the absurdity of the image game between the great powers during the arms race between the United States and the Soviet Union, and the lives of dozens of astronauts. , The huge financial expenditure for lunar exploration led to the government's financial constraints and people's marches. These are the price to catch up with the Soviet Union's early landing on the moon.
The absurdity of this image game is reflected in many places in the film. For example, at the 41st minute of the film, Commander Gao and his colleagues walked into the Gemini 8. A row of staff stood on each side of the spacecraft, as if waiting for the experiment of the guinea pig. As a result, all they wanted was to get results to improve the ship.
As soon as the two entered the spacecraft, the staff shouted who had the Swiss Army Knife when they fastened their seat belts. It turned out that the buckles of the seat belts were stuck by a foreign object. It can be seen that the reason behind the roughness of the equipment is unquestionable - to hurry up with the schedule.
The cabin door of the spacecraft was closed by the staff, which was also shot from the astronaut's subjective perspective, like the feeling of being covered with a coffin board, depressed and helpless. High Commander, who was about to take off, saw a bird fly by through the triangular glass. And the next scene is even more joking, there is a fly in the spaceship cabin that should be so rigorous and scientific.
Then the director used a series of comparison shots, including the angles of the interior of the cabin, and the creaking sounds between screws and seams, making people feel that the shoddy construction of this spacecraft is very likely to fall apart. At the same time when Commander Gao took off with the spacecraft, the life and death of Commander Gao had already been arranged.
At 1 hour and 18 minutes into the film, when the three colleagues were performing the plug-in test in the Apollo cabin, an astronaut and the staff made a radio call. The quality of the call was very poor. The astronaut sarcastically said that if the three buildings were separated Lou, we can't hear the conversation, so how can we talk between the earth and the moon.
Then the wires in the cabin caught fire, and the entire cabin was filled with oxygen. The director used an external lens to show how tragic the accident was due to the staff's mistakes. When Commander High was about to bid farewell to his wife and leave for NASA to enter the Apollo moon landing, NASA executives were preparing a speech for the failure of the moon landing. This is especially true under the national ideology. When a colleague of the High Commander passes away, a new colleague will soon take over, and people will only remember the person who completed the moon landing.
