The fifth part, Xi Fat, can be regarded as the one I like a little bit. Because I personally think that the most important thing in his films is the creation of the atmosphere (of course he is really a master), while the story itself and narrative techniques are boring.
In this part, the misogynist Xi Pang finally wrote a smart, beautiful, independent and capable heroine who is not like a rich girl, but was involved in a deformed mother-son relationship and the malice of the town residents due to a chance encounter. Those killed and injured by the attack were all innocent people other than the "scourge", while the mother and son at the core were almost unscathed. The balance of power and quantity between man and bird was broken in an instant, but man was reluctant to recognize the truth, and instead kept justifying the murdering bird. In addition, the disaster seems to only hang over this small bay, people in the city do not give enough support or even attention to it, and the small bay is abandoned by the outside world, intentionally or unintentionally. Therefore, the story is no longer a terrifying killing and silent confrontation on the surface, but a straightforward Christian-style moral critique.
The scene where the male protagonist opens the door is really... scared to cry
