The Thin Red Line

I was ready to be suffocated. In this depressing rainy day, I resolutely looked down on the thin red line of The Thin Red Line. The monologue is a bit boring, but I still really think it's a great movie, and of course, it would have been better if it was cut to about two hours. Putting George Clooney in the lead would be ridiculous, the dude didn't show up until the very end...and only had a minute or two of play. The real starring is James Caviezel, yes, the one who played Jesus with a pitying face; and Sean Penn, many of whom can recognize faces, pianist Adrien Brody, John Cusack, John Travolta (also a cameo) is almost a big collection of movie stars and powerful actors. This is the most realistic and cruel film describing the Pacific battle of World War II, and it is not surprising that it is called a boring film by some people.

The Thin Red Line quotes

  • Sergeant Storm: I look at that boy dyin', I don't feel nothin'. I don't care about nothin' anymore.

First Sgt. Edward Welsh: Sounds like bliss.

  • Private Witt: [voice over] We were a family. How'd it break up and come apart, so that now we're turned against each other? Each standing in the other's light. How'd we lose that good that was given us? Let it slip away. Scattered it, careless. What's keepin' us from reaching out, touching the glory?
