Bullock is a boxer and is proud of himself. He has a wife, May, and three children.
Soon, the Great Depression came, and Bullock went bankrupt.
Bullock had a game to play, and even though the money was small, he went. He didn't eat before he left and gave his son his meal. The game didn't go well and he broke his right hand. Because he didn't fight well with his opponent, the boss disqualified him as a boxer.
At home, the eldest son stole a sausage. Bullock took his son to return the sausage. On the way back, the son cried and said that a neighbor had a child who was sent away because the family could not support him-the son stole the sausage because he was afraid of being sent away. Bullock promised his son that he would never be sent away.
As the situation worsened, Brock went to the factory to find work, but the manpower needed by the factory was very limited, and he could only be selected occasionally. Here, he met his friend Mike. Mike found Brock's hands weak and ineffective, but did not expose him to the foreman. The relationship between the two gradually improved.
Brock went to collect the relief money, and even the people who distributed the relief money said that they would never expect to see Brock here.
The situation at home was even worse. Even the electricity was cut off, and then the son began to get sick. In desperation, his wife Mei had to send their three children to relatives. When he got home, Bullock was angry because he had promised his son that he would never be sent away. Bullock returned to the former boxing club in desperation. He took a cloth bag and asked his old friends and colleagues to help him-for the sake of his family, he could put down his dignity.
This little money finally solved the urgent need.
At a rich friend's kid's birthday party, Bullock took the kids to eat cake. And his friend Mike was drunk and quarreled with his wife.
The former agent Joe came to him and said that there was a game, and there was a temporary shortage of people. He could make 250 yuan if he went. Of course Bullock went. Before the game, Joe found him hungry and made him a bowl of offal. Bullock had just eaten two bites when he was interrupted by a reporter. The reporter was not optimistic about Bullock.
But what everyone didn't expect was that Brock actually won. Because he often uses his left hand when working, his left and right sides have become much stronger than before.
Life is back to normal. Bullock went to the factory again to find work. This time the foreman took the initiative to choose him, thinking that the foreman had read the newspaper of yesterday's boxing match. And his friend Mike told Bullock that he loved his wife and they would be fine.
Broker Joe found Brock and asked him to come out. If Bullock came out, Joe would also pay him an advance.
But his wife May disagreed, because Brock was old and had a broken hand, and she didn't want to live a life of anxiety like before. May goes to Joe, who thinks Joe is using Bullock as his purse. But May finds out that all the furniture in Joe's luxury apartment is sold out - and Joe is having a hard time, and he's selling the last of the furniture in order to rehabilitate Bullock. Joe's wife thought that nothing could stop them doing what they both loved. May was persuaded.
Bullock started training and won game after game.
Friend Mike lost contact after drinking, and Brock went to him. Mike was dying when he found it.
Mike dies, Bullock and May go to the funeral.
Surprisingly, after a decisive bout, he was the second-place finisher in the heavyweight division -- and first-place Max was very, very good.
Everyone is not optimistic about Brock, because Max is too good. The owner of the club found Brock and Joe, and gave him the information of the previous Max game-before, several people were killed by Max on the spot. But Bullock was not deterred, he insisted on the game, because he had seen the cruelty of life. Afterwards, the club owner invited the Brock and Joe families to dinner.
At the fancy restaurant, Bullock and May secretly put away unfinished steaks. Max came, and he deliberately loosened a bottle of Bullock's wine, named "Good Wind". Bullock went to thank Max, and the two competed secretly.
Back home, the kids finished their steaks, and Bullock taught them boxing as usual. But Mei couldn't stand it. She said that she was not allowed to practice boxing at home in the future. She was very against Brock going to this game, she didn't want to lose her husband like Mike's wife. But Bullock has to go.
The race was about to begin, and May and his wife put Bullock in the car. In the car, Bullock found a lot of people greeting him. May, who went to the church to pray, found that many people in the church were praying for Brock-in the hearts of the common people, Brock became a symbol of the bottom people overcoming difficulties, and they hoped that Brock could win.
When Bullock appeared, the stands were silent, and everyone respected and worried about Bullock. Finally someone shouted the slogan that Brock must win, and everyone responded together.
Off the field, various people were listening closely to the progress of the game on the radio, including Bullock's three children. May originally did not allow her children to listen to the radio, but then she joined it.
The game finally started. Before the game, many people predicted that Bullock would not survive the first round of the game. But what is surprising is that Bullock has defeated underestimated opponents time and time again... In the
end, he defeated Max and became the world champion.
