Saying that the movie is old-fashioned does not mean that watching the movie is not moving. There are always some old-fashioned plots, but they can always mobilize people's emotions. As I disapprove of it, watching this film can still be inspiring and moving. . . . . .
However, compared with Rocky, in addition to being better than Rocky in terms of lineup, level of detail, technology, etc., I personally feel that in the most important emotional touch, I still lost to Rocky who I watched back then.
The first reason should be because of preconceived notions. Watching genre films for the first time is obviously more effective than watching genre films repeatedly.
The second is that Stallone's performance in Rocky seems to be more convincing (this is too subjective, because Rocky watched it a long time ago, and didn't re-watch it because of writing this feeling).
Routines, both are the same, the embarrassed man worked hard and won a fairytale-like miracle. Then the point is that the more deeply embarrassed a man is described, the more successful it will be to contrast the subsequent fights.
Personally, I feel that perhaps Stallone, as a screenwriter and actor, as well as his embarrassed feelings, coupled with the positive effect of his acting skills not necessarily skilled, gives people a more realistic feeling.
And although Crow's acting skills are very mature, there is always a sense of deja vu. He often appears in dramas, and he always feels that he is the actor Russell Crow rather than the embarrassed man who needs to work hard.
All are subjective personal feelings, for reference only.
