Science fiction dramas are mostly surreal, which means that you basically won’t believe the things in them are true. The Stargate story is based on mythology, and successfully deconstructed the origins of Eastern and Western mythological characters and the role of mysterious buildings such as pyramids in the big frame of the plot, which makes people feel quite reasonable. The addition of plots such as the presidential campaign, the evil organization NID, and international disputes connects SG-1 with real life, which is rarely done in other sci-fi dramas. No wonder that after SG-1 is broadcast, many fans have to go to Cheyenne Mountain where Stargate Command is located in the show.
SG-1 is quite successful in character setting and plot arrangement. The "Stargate" movie in 1994 was a big bad film, with a mediocre plot and extremely failed character creation. And the SG-1 series took the basis of the setting and derives such a wonderful series, which is really amazing. Every detail in the movie is fully utilized in the episode. The personalities of Jack and Daniel are highlighted. The addition of Tealc and Carter brings more highlights. Even the big villain Maybourne in NID can make people hate it. Love again. The behavior of each character under its distinctive personality is logical and reasonable, and can be consistent; although the latter two seasons are obviously not as rigorous as the previous one, this is already rare for a ten-season drama. These authentic and kind characters successfully lead the audience into the wonderful and threatening journey, and they can't stop.
Another subtlety of the Stargate series is that this Stargate provides an excellent stage background. The other side of the Stargate contains infinite possibilities, which provides ample space for the expansion of the plot. In fact, from interstellar travel, time travel to time loops, human cloning, and parasitic life, SG-1 contains almost every subject that can be involved in science fiction works, and its breadth and depth are breathtaking. After watching SG-1, I discovered that many of the so-called classic science fiction movies had their original ideas in SG-1.
The complete storyline of Stargate SG-1 includes 3 movies and 10 seasons of episodes. The sequence is the 1994 movie version of Stargate, the first to tenth seasons of Stargate SG-1, and the Stargate The Ark Of Truth ( Truth Box), "Stargate Continuum" (time and space continuity). The 1-8 seasons of the series are the most classic. The screenwriting level of the 9th and 10th seasons has declined, but it is still worth watching. Highly recommended to students who love science fiction.
