Watch the movie first, then read the book

I have nothing against novels being adapted into movies. Many excellent movies are adapted from novels. Although film is a completely independent art form, more than 80% of the prototyping imagined is derived from fiction. (Best and best example: The Lord of the Rings)

I also do not object to the innate constraints of the limited time of the movie, we can make some cuts to the novel, or slightly change the plot to make the plot develop faster, as long as the original intention is faithful to the original, there is no questionable. (Excellent example: Pride and Prejudice; uneven example: Harry Potter)

I'm also not against a lot of adaptations of novels for the purpose of filming, as long as I haven't read the book, or the adaptation doesn't underestimate my IQ Still acceptable. (In many cases, many learned about the existence of books after watching a movie. After watching a movie, reading a book is generally a very pleasant experience, because there is a real character appearance that can be substituted.)

But this movie happened to be me The first book of a set of novels I like to read, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, happened to be the subject of my favorite Greek mythology, and it happened to be a rare Harry Potter fantasy but equally brilliant novel, which he adapted underestimated. I can't stand my IQ!

A big evil plot in the original book was cut off abruptly, and so many evil characters ah ah ah ah ah ~~~ n gods and n demigods in the original book were also completely wiped out! There are many adaptations of Harry Potter movies, but at least all the characters are there. The good plot has been changed into a video game-style plot - note that it is not a game with a complex plot like Final Fantasy, but a simple flat-panel RPG game that collects props first and then fights the big boss. The originally brilliant ending can fully highlight the hero's strong and brave characteristics. After being changed, Percy's character immediately dropped by half.

In all fairness, if you haven't read the book, this movie is about 5 points, which is the level where you can still watch to pass the time. The original book not only has a compact plot and distinctive characters, but also is humorous and funny, which can't be found in the movie at all. On the contrary, the Medusa played by Uma Thurman is a bit interesting, and she is simply a grudge with a vicious heart. Later, the film review said that she still played Zeus's wife Hela, but the plot flashed very quickly, and before I could watch it carefully, Hela disappeared from the screen. . .

So my suggestion is, if you haven't read the book, please watch the movie first and then read the book, otherwise you will be as angry as I am and can't fully enjoy the fun of the movie!

Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief quotes

  • Ferryman: Welcome to the underworld.

Percy Jackson: [Upon seeing objects floating by him] What is all this?

Ferryman: The scrapheap of human misery. Lost hopes and dreams. Wishes that never came true.

  • Annabeth Chase: [bringing Percy and Grover to Luke's quarters] Luke?

Luke: [playing Call of Duty on a big flat-screen monitor] Hmm? Hey, guys. Percy. I figured you'd stop by sooner or later. Everybody does... to get away from all that Renaissance Fair stuff out there, you know?

[Luke turns off the video game, stands, and gestures at all his electronics in the quarters]

Luke: But, uh... welcome to the modern world.
