However improbable and unlikely the scenario is in Side Effects, it is a smart and creative story. Rooney Mara delivers a stunning performance as an extremely difficult and complex character. Soderbergh's directing further enhances the quality of the film with memorable and innovative shots and editing, which creates a slow but suspenseful setting throughout. Don't get fooled by the title, as the film has little to do with medicines or drugs, but it is a commendable thriller that is worth watching.
