One thing to say, from a story point of view, this film is not very exciting.
It slowly narrates a wine journey of a frustrated middle-aged man who failed in his career and marriage.
The story is not the point, the point is the wine.
This is a must-see movie for wine lovers. Most of the scenery in the film was shot in Santa Barbara County, California, USA, which is a region with high-quality Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Bordeaux varieties, known for its diversity of wine types.
The film is filled with plenty of wines from famous estates. The year's Pinot Noir prices skyrocketed due to the film's passionate compliments of Pinot Noir.
This grape is hard to grow
it's a hard grape to grow
Its skin is thin, hard to serve, and matures early
it's thin-skinned, temperamental, ripens early
It's not as good as Cabernet Franc, it won't grow everywhere, and it can grow well even if no one cares.
it's not a survivor like cabernet which can just grow anywhere and thrive even when it's neglected
Pinault needs careful care and attention
pinot needs canstant care and attention
In fact, it can only grow in a few specific places in the world.
in fact, it can only grow in these really specific, little tucked-away corner of the world.
And only the most patient and caring breeder can really grow it
and only the most patient and nurturing of growers can do it.
Only those who take the time to understand Pinot's potential can bring out its full charm.
Only somebody who really takes the time to understand pinot's potential can then coax it into its fullest expression.
It tastes the most tantalizing, wonderful, exciting and delicately original in the world.
Its flavors, they're just the most haunting and brilliant and thrilling and ancient on the planet.
That is to talk about wine, but also to talk about people.
Isn't that the case with people, those precious things and precious people can only blossom and bear fruit with their hearts.
The most poetic passage in the movie comes from the heroine Maya:
wine has soul
how it's a living thing.
I appreciate the ability of wine to keep growing.
I like how wine continues to evolve.
Like, I'm opening a bottle of wine today and I'm opening this bottle on any other day
Like, if I opened a bottle of wine today, it would taste different than if I'd opened it on any other day.
Because this wine is made of life, it will continue to grow, more and more complex, until it reaches its peak, like your 61-year-old Cheval Blanc
Because a bottle of wine is actually alive , and it's constantly evolving and gaining complexity. That is until it peaks ,like your 61.
And then it started to stabilize on its own, with an inevitable decline, and that tasted really good.
And then it begins its steady, inevitable decline. And it tastes so fucking good.
Wine tasting is the same as tasting life.
Young wines are fruity but not complex enough. Only when it is aged to a certain extent, will it have a sense of complexity and balance, and the wine at this time will be interesting to drink.
People always think that they are beautiful when they are young, but they are only young, they just feel that there is still a lot of time to squander. The most wonderful thing is that with the precipitation of time, and slowly find your own taste.
It is worth mentioning that at the end, the male protagonist opened the 61-year-old Baima Zhuang wine. Put it in a drink cup of a fast food restaurant and drink it with a hamburger.
This is the scene that saddens me the most.
Château Cheval Blanc is a first-class A-class winery in the Saint-Emilion producing area on the right bank of Bordeaux, France, which is the highest-grade winery in the producing area. Chateau Cheval Blanc has a long history, which is said to date back to around the 15th century. In 1998, it joined LVMH, the world's largest luxury goods group. The genuine white horse red wine is mainly made of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 1961 in the movie was a very good vintage, with excellent quality grapes. While not comparable to the 1947 White Horse, which was named the "Wine of the Century", the '61 is already outstanding.
In the movie, the heroine Maya said that the day you opened the 1961 White Horse Village was a special day. I think it must be a particularly distressing day, every drop of wine flowing is a piece of dollars. . . . .
Wine tasting is a fun thing. In addition to tasting all kinds of wonderful tastes, the most wonderful thing is the feeling when you are slightly drunk.
It's always a pleasure to have a glass of wine at night, drink it all, and write.
