In this age of scarcity of dark humor, serious comedy is dying out. For me, the mainstream black humor in the United States has become a little tired, and I don't watch too many movies, but in recent years, except for Quentin, there is no very outstanding masterpiece. Other than that, I don't really understand British humor, and I don't appreciate it. So, in an accidental gap, I was fortunate enough to enjoy an Argentine-style black humor film. It's dark, comedy, serious, and dramatic.
This dark and humorous film consists of six short stories. Here, I would like to highlight the sixth story - a farce at a wedding.
The story begins with a lively and joyous wedding, where Ariel the groom and Romi the bride dance to celebrate. After that, Romi accidentally found out about Ariel's derailment, and questioned him, and got a positive answer. Romi collapsed suddenly, lost control and ran to the rooftop, comforted by the resting chef, and made love on the rooftop on impulse. Ariel, who arrived later, caught the rapist on the spot, but Romi turned against the army and vowed revenge. When the lost Ariel returned to the wedding, Romi had already started a grand orgy, and "accidentally" injured Ariel's cheating partner. After the two quarreled again, their hearts were close to collapse, and they calmed down on one side. Returning to the calm wedding scene, Ariel finally regained his senses, and took the initiative to ask for peace. Romi accepted it, and the two rekindled their love at the wedding.
What makes black humor comedy different from other forms of comedy is that it tells a different story. While comedy is usually told with a smile, dark humor gives you a serious look with dramatic twists to make you laugh. I love this little story because its dramatic twist is full of special charm.
The story begins with an ordinary wedding scene that can no longer be ordinary. Everyone is celebrating and carnival. People in the banquet bless the bride and groom, and those who know each other are making fun of each other. go down. But in the atmosphere of laughter and laughter, there is a major crisis hidden. Romi accidentally discovered her husband's cheating partner when she was making necessary greetings with the guests. The experienced woman immediately thought of the story of cheating and got a positive answer from Ariel. Just imagine learning the saddest thing on the most important occasion in your life. The gap is huge and full of dramatic twists. This is the first very dark humor of the film.
And if it's like the cheating chef said Romi wasn't the first to find out her husband was cheating at a wedding, and life sometimes has people around us being played with, and even ourselves, then it's dramatic. the turning point. Although it was bloody at the wedding, it was found that the object cheated, but it also happened frequently. However, the scene where Romi and the chef were caught cheating on the spot by her husband was enough to satisfy the audience who did not have high requirements for the plot. In this episode, Romi, who had the upper hand, instantly returned to the disadvantaged, so she had to strike first and vowed to take revenge on Ariel. From the time when the adulterer was caught to the moment he was caught on the spot, the roles of the husband and wife exchanged in status here, which is another dramatic black humor.
Of course, the film is fantastic and it doesn't end there. Back at the wedding, Ariel and Romi quarreled again, to the point that the groom went crazy and the bride didn't recognize his dad. The two were sobbing on the side. At this time, Ariel saw Romi's cry, and the love for her in the depths of her heart was revived - who would not love a crying woman. So he opened the champagne and cut the cake to keep the wedding going. He walked up to Romy firmly, reaching out for peace. Accompanied by the music, the dance of the two makes the body harmonize, and all the unpleasantness disappears for the time being. The two kiss, flirt, and have sex at the dinner table. The story reaches its final climax, and the drama here is even more applauded. After the crazy farce, in fact, both husband and wife still love each other. When the atmosphere gradually calms down and reason recovers, the one who loves you still loves. The director also played a dark humor in love, and then continued to make the audience believe in love. As if love is always like this, someone will make mistakes, someone will get angry, someone will get angry, someone will lose control, but in the end, the groom will not bear the tears of the bride and will keep this wedding going - every love story should have a happy ending .
The director's dark humor in this romantic drama is amazing. There are naturally a lot of dark comedy scenes in the story. For example, the groom and the bridegroom reunite with Hershey's husband and wife taking the cakes handed by the waiter and watching them kiss while eating. In such a tense atmosphere, the old man's calmness also made me laugh. There is also a detail that Romi first discovered that her husband cheated when the two danced, and the last two reconciled through dancing. Echoing from beginning to end, the director can be said to have done his best, and every picture of the film reveals full information. I want to pay tribute to such a funny black humor.
PS: Saw the discussion mentioned whether the groom strangled the bride at the end. I think the answer is of course no. From the gaze revealed by the groom when he decided to reconcile with Hershey, and the kiss afterward, it conveys a strong atmosphere of love. Until the last picture is given to the wedding villain who fell on the ground, it should also imply a happy ending. Although there is some truth to the conspiracy theorists, I prefer to believe in this happy ending.
