This is a "collection of short films" consisting of 6 short stories, but completed by one director. Every story has the same theme - to get revenge on Liangshan. The verb "force" is interesting, it defines the action of a victim. The richness of reality tells us that victims are often mutual. You hurt others, others hurt you, and others hurt. Both loses. Who is the victim? Tarkovsky said: "The most basic characteristic of film is to expose reality, not cover it up." We can find prototypes in our lives for these 6 little stories, and even reflect back to our own experiences, the primitive nature of human nature. The essence of evil is most easily manifested in "revenge". Who dares to say that he has never thought about violence against those who hurt him? It just hasn't been "forced" to that.
Each of the 6 stories reflects the reality, the narrative is simple and rough, the rhythm is tight, and there is no trickery. The ending setting of each story cannot be said to be unexpected, but it is refreshing while remaining in the grasp of reality. I think of Wu Shixian's "Car 44", which won the gold award in Saint Denis many years ago, and Alejandro Fernández Almendras' "Murder", which won the gold award in Saint Denis the year before. story, because out of the 6 stories, only this one is "good" being forced into "evil".
In fact, every winter when I was queuing up to stay in France, I saw the foreign "poor people" who had been filming in the cold wind for hours and suffered in various ways due to the injustice and inaction of government officials. I always imagined that one day, At the moment when a person is close to a mental breakdown, he will explode due to the cold words of a certain government worker. How I look forward to a tragedy to change certain behaviors and institutions in this country. At that time, I would secretly engrave this person's photo and name on the door of Prefecture in the middle of the night, so that those who came later would regard him as a hero!
Personally, I like the two short stories of the highway and the engineer. The highway fights. The introduction is clear. The inner motivation of the characters is closely linked until the explosion. The ending makes people laugh and cry. And the story of the engineer is entirely because he has lived in France for a long time. This kind of thing is really deep in my heart. But the ending makes people feel unrealistic. Usually, such a struggle is not a lose-lose, but a self-destruction. Have you ever seen that people and the government struggle to get happiness? It's not "Homeland Security" that can blow up all the people in the CIA and FBI. This also explains why after so many years of living in France, it is so perverted that no one has given up on it.
The two stories of airplanes and restaurants are relatively weak in screenwriting, and the stories of rich people protecting their children are not uncommon. It can be seen that bureaucratic corruption and class antagonism are global problems and human nature. It's just too common, the development of the plot is basically predictable, but the ending makes people a little excited. The last wedding was almost flawless in the script, and the bride's gorgeous outburst was such a cool word! I love the setting of this ending. The director wrote the script himself. This ending is mixed and not lacking in drama.
The biggest advantage of "Tian Destined" is that it bridges multiple social news into one story. Although the connection is not too deep, it is enough to make a film a complete feature film. The biggest disadvantage of "Savage Tales" is that each story is independent. It is more like a "short film collection" of 6 Saint Denis Gold Awards completed by one director. If this film can't win the grand prize, it can only be for this reason. But that didn't affect my enjoyment and joy of watching the movie. The script of this film can be said to be the best one I have seen in 2014, bar none!
The last sentence, the animal metaphor in the title is really good! It's really rare for a movie to show the director's wisdom from the title.
