Polar Express

I don't need to retell the content of the film, the legends about Christmas, and the children's understanding of Santa Claus that slowly changes as they grow up. Of course, children believe in Santa Claus, but as they grow up and have more knowledge, they also know the illusion of Santa Claus. I'm naturally one of those materialists who don't believe in Santa Claus, don't believe in Jesus Christ, don't believe in anyone who exists only in legends and myths, that is, people who don't hear the jingle of Christmas bells much. A film that tries to "believe" a little boy who doesn't believe in Santa Claus from start to finish feels like it's trying to convince me. Of course, this movie isn't trying to make us all believe in Santa Claus, it just wants us to have the so-called Christmas spirit. I thought it was the ability to dream, the spirit of loving others and caring for each other... I wonder if I can really hear the moving jingle bells?

The Polar Express quotes

  • [repeated line]

    The Boy: I believe.

  • Hobo: What exactly is... is your persuasion on the Big Man, since you brought him up?

The Boy: Well, I... I want to believe... but...

Hobo: But you don't want to be bamboozled. You don't want to be led down the primrose path! You don't want to be conned or duped. Have the wool pulled over your eyes. Hoodwinked! You don't want to be taken for a ride. Railroaded!

[Hobo puts out fire with the joe]

Hobo: Seeing is believing. Am I right?
