Confessions of a Dangerous Mind

Chuck Barris (played by Sam Rockwell), who is determined to be famous and rich, meets his future wife Penny (played by Drew Barrymore) naked by accident. This is absolutely a coincidence, because he just slept with Penny's roommate and went naked to their kitchen to find something.

But these are not the only things that are more coincidental. Barris later took the opportunity to not only become the host of several crazy variety show competitions on the TV station, but also was spotted by Jim (George Clooney) of the CIA. Jim asks Barris to use the host's identity as a cover to execute the assassination plan. For the honor of the country, Barris is obliged, not to mention the beautiful helper Patricia (Julia Roberts) is secretly helping!

This extravagant, exaggerated, and lustful guy started an absolutely crazy double-sided game. But this kind of role that sometimes lives by a thread, and sometimes everyone's attention, can really bring him the life he is looking forward to?

Film review:

George Clooney directed and acted in his debut, co-starring Drew Barrymore, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, etc., won the Berlin Film Festival Best Actor Award, Best Screenplay by the Radio Film Critics Association Award, National Film Critics Association Best Screenplay and Special Film Production Award, Las Vegas Film Critics Association Best Picture, and George Cluny was nominated for Best Director at the Berlin Film Festival and Chicago Film Festival for the first time for this film.

As early as the early 1990s, the famous variety show host Chuck Barris published a book with the same name as the movie under the name of "autobiography". However, because its content is too bizarre and contains a lot of fictitious elements (such as the plot of the CIA killer), it has not been recognized as a "biography" work. But as soon as the book was released, it attracted the attention of everyone in the film industry. This film is similar to the "11 Arhats" that George Clooney participated in last year in that it also uses a large number of star casts. Let alone the main actors, even the small supporting roles in the film have the participation of Matt Damon and Brad Pitt. The scriptwriter Charlie Kaufman is a senior Hollywood screenwriter. Both the recently released "Adapted Screenplay" and the "Human Nature" (Human Nature) that was screened at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival are all written by him. Critics believe that in this film, he changed the original work out of depth and gave a reasonable explanation for the seemingly absurd plot. The actor Sam Rockwell has always been a big vase before, and has played supporting roles in many famous films such as "The Green Mile" (The Green Mile) and "Charlie Girl". It was finally his turn to show his face this time, and his performance was not bad. The actor played a certain depth. The Hollywood Reporter even praised Rockwell's performance as one of the best screen performances in 2002.

  • Chuck (Age 8): Hey Tuvia, you want to lick it?

Tuvia (Age 8): No, why would I want to do that?

Chuck (Age 8): It tastes like strawberries, my sister says you love strawberries.

Tuvia (Age 8): No it doesn't. Besides I don't like strawberries.

Chuck (Age 8): I bet you a dollar it does.

  • Jim Byrd: Think of it as a hobby. Something you do to relax. You're an "assassination enthusiast."
