Compared to The Grand Budapest Hotel, Isle of Dogs, and Fantastic Daddy Fox, this movie strikes me as a little less Wes. It may be that the Indian flavor has weakened Wes's retro mood, the theme of the film is not prominent, and the whole film seems to be just to show the outstanding personalities of the three brothers.
But Wes has Wes's attempts and challenges. The story of "Canis Island" takes place in Japan, full of Japanese elements, Mount Fuji, sushi, geisha and samurai. "Crossing Darjeeling" is a curry-flavored tale of red moles on the brows, head scarves, and everything above your head. Wes moved his camera around the world, but left his story in the grid. It is a Japanese story, but Japanese is not translated as background sound unless necessary. It is a trip to India, but if you understand the local language, you can understand it. , despite the language, we can still understand him and his expressions.
Average rating for this movie, but there are two scenes that I really like. When they saw the drowning child, the three brothers left the luggage without hesitation with a "go", as well as the alternate life situations in the "Grid Room" at the end of the film.
I still, always love, Wes Anderson.
