deep love, far away

I admit that I made this movie with an impure purpose. The beginning of the movie gave me a very quiet feeling, and then this quiet feeling continued until the end of the movie, even Sissy's singing, even Brandon found out Sissy's suicides are all so quiet. This silence is heartbreaking. Brandon seems to only know sex but not love. He can release himself freely in 3P and even male-to-male, but he can't attack the colleagues around him. He listened to his sister's song and heard tears, and it was not easy for him to express his feelings for this man. The final evaluation was It's interesting. It's good. The sister in the film always wants to take the initiative to enter the world of her brother, but It seems that none of us will leave a message to each other to say pick up, and no one will want to take a step closer. Brandon loves his sister, but keeps driving her away and doesn't answer her calls. Fear of intimacy, because of a little low self-esteem, because of fear of being hurt, and because of fear of hurting others, I finally chose to leave. When Brandon was annoyed in the hotel room, I wanted to hug him from behind and take him with him to admire the view out the window and the pedestrians on the road. In the second half of the film, after Sissy left a message to her brother's boss, the siblings sat on the sofa and had a simple, repetitive and serious conversation. The cartoons played on TV seemed to imply the innocence of childhood. We don't know what happened to their childhood, their youth or what happened before. When we were kids, we would cry and roll on the ground when we wanted anything. As an adult, everyone seems to have no idea how to get what they want, and some don't even know what they want, and they even yearn for the impossible. Everyone is suppressing their growing and wrong desires, and in the end, they can't express their true feelings, and they drift away from the loved ones around them, so far that they can't see each other. Some people say that the movie is about sister control, some people think that love is incompetent. Different people have different understandings. I think it has both. Especially when he saw Sissy and his boss David get together, Brandon's anger ran wild on his own. It was hard to agree that his feelings for Sissy were limited to brothers and sisters. I like my sister and can't, so I keep hiding myself and I don't know how to love. Because love requires honesty and sharing with each other.

Shame quotes

  • Sissy Sullivan: We're not bad people. We just come from a bad place.

  • Sissy Sullivan: I'm trying, I'm trying to help you.

Brandon Sullivan: How are you helping me, huh? How are you helping me? How are you helping me? Huh? Look at me. You come in here and you're a weight on me. Do you understand me? You're a burden. You're just dragging me down. How are you helping me? You can't even clean up after yourself. Stop playing the victim.

Sissy Sullivan: I'm not playing the victim. If I left, I would never hear from you again. Don't you think that's sad? Don't you think that's sad? You're my brother.
