just a little real

After watching too many interlocking and thoughtful police and bandit movies, it is a bit shocking to suddenly come to such a bizarre movie. It's not ironic, it really feels good.
Many people find bugs in movies, but there are countless bugs in real life, which are inevitable. I think the director is just trying to restore life. Can you promise to stay calm as you watch your boyfriend sink to the brink of death? Would you have thought that this might be the last, the last word spoken? Can you guarantee that the money is raised and that there is a helicopter by your side? Can you guarantee that the police car will not cause an accident at high speed? It is these uncertainties that make up real life. It's like the robber's original plan was destroyed by a traffic cop. At the same time, life is made up of many seemingly coincidental inevitabilities. Why is a dispatcher so calm, because his job is to be responsible for the safety of 5 million passengers a day, and there is no room for error. Why was he able to go home safely in the end but chose to take risks alone? Imagine a man who loves his profession but has been insulted for a long time by an incompetent superior (the one who insisted that the robber must be in the car), will he be hot-blooded for a while? Punch, want to prove yourself and shut up those who only question themselves. Maybe the reason is simpler, it's just heroism, or for a good start and a good end. In short, I think this is a very special and individual film, and its literary and artistic elements greatly exceed the plot. The director is a seasoned cop and gangster, and I don't think he would make that kind of low-level mistakes. Tired of the previous methods, and I don't want to be instructed anymore, that's my guess for him.
Also, it was really touching when Gabo's wife made him promise to bring a gallon of milk when he came back.
Of course, if you are serious, you can find some faults, but that's boring.

The Taking of Pelham 123 quotes

  • Ryder: I talked to God.

Walter Garber: That's good, what did he say?

Ryder: He said I should trust in Him, all others pay cash. How soon can you get it down here?

  • Ryder: [last lines, to Garber] You're my goddamn hero.
