Revisited the first of the five-part series this week, so went back to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie. I still think Martin Freeman is really unsuitable for the role of Arthur, his lines + frown are too dramatic, it seems that Watson after the Hobbit grows taller has crossed... His portrayal of Arthur Dent is not comparable to that of Arthur Dent Simon Jones in the BBC studios version
The difficulty with adapting The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is how to express a sly comic, the 2005 version was too heavy in some places, but it may also be that there are parts of the book that are difficult to express in a movie. For the film and television processing of The Hitchhiker's Guide, I also prefer the old sci-fi movies of the BBC studios version. The 2005 movie version always gives me a feeling of doing popular science video visualization ppt?♀️
However, the scenes in some books are still well restored. I also like the scenes of the destruction of the earth, and some of the soundtracks are also good. But the overall feeling is that it is sacrificing part of the grandness to pursue a more dramatic expression, which is not cool enough, and it is not satisfactory.
(The album most in line with The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is Mansun's Attack of the grey lantern, I often use the English version of this album as a bgm for reading)
