As an old player who entered the pit from "The Brotherhood", I have always been looking forward to AC's movies. I have seen a small number of trailers in the early stage (it's not that I didn't watch it, but Ayu did a good job of keeping secrets, and didn't release much before the release), and I felt that it was quite sincere when I saw that Leap of Faith was performed by a live person. Although a series of game change movies can't escape the curse of bad movies, even Blizzard's father can't. But I still think it's possible for Assassin's Creed to make a good movie. There are two points that are most likely to be complained about in the movie. One is that it is too loyal to the original book, and the plot is completely copied. This kind of movie is like letting players watch movies that have been spoiled countless times or watched countless times, and there is no freshness at all. (The Angelina version of "Tomb Raider" at the time was this fault that caused the audience to be unpopular.) Another point is that the plot changes were so great that they were completely divorced from the game. (I don’t need to say anything about “Resident Evil”, it is now an ordinary zombie film.) The entire series of “Assassin’s Creed” except for the second-generation Ezio trilogy, there is not too much between each one. There are many connections, and the few connections are mainly in the plot of the battle between the modern sweet and the assassin, which has become more and more obvious after "Black Flag". So AC filmmaking can take advantage of this and build an action movie based on the AC worldview. Anyway, the ancient timeline has nothing to do with it (now it has gone to ancient Greece, and the next one will probably be "Assassin's Creed: Primal Kill"), so I caught another kid with assassin blood and went back to the ancestral memory. It's completely possible to make an excellent action movie with an AC background.
However, Yu Bitch slapped me hard in the face.
The movie opens with a young boy skateboarding and parkour coming home to find his mother killed and then running away. To be honest, the small climax that should have been in the opening paragraph was tepid. No chase scenes, no fights, just kiddie parkour. Parkour takes up most of the title time, but there is no particularly thrilling and handsome action, so it really doesn't have a sense of substitution like other Hollywood blockbusters. After that, the protagonist became an adult as soon as the camera switched, and then he became a violent murderer and was executed. There is nothing wrong with this filming, it is concise and clear, and it can also reasonably explain why the protagonist will not be interfered by outsiders after being placed under house arrest for research. However, what happened next was rather confusing. The female antagonist has always emphasized that the research on the protagonist is helpful for world peace, but I have not figured out why there is world peace in the end. A bunch of assassins were placed under house arrest in the institute, but their hands and feet were not restrained. And then in another room, there's a whole bunch of Assassin paraphernalia on display, everything from bombs to Hidden Blades. In the later period, the assassins rose up and took these weapons and guarded the front. All I can say is: deserve it. Old players know that the memory of ancestors in the game is contained in DNA, so through the animus machine, you can experience the memory of ancestors in person, and you can also learn the various abilities of ancestors. But it is not only the players who watch the movie, but also the general audience. What is the use of your machine, can't you explain it in two more sentences? AC not only has modern plots, but also ancient plots. A major reason for playing "Brotherhood" back then was that I was shocked by the Renaissance Rome. The city scenery in the game is very good, the scene is bright, and even at night, you can clearly appreciate the magnificence of the city of Rome. And the ancient city in the movie, I don't know whether it is because it is in wartime or what, the picture is yellow and it looks very dim. And even the city vistas are full of gunpowder smoke and can't be appreciated at all. The picture of the two assassins running on the city streets is a bit messy and dizzying. The fight is also indescribable, there is no iconic assassination action, and some deliberately handsome poses are actually completely unnecessary. Remember, you're an assassin and a master of combat, so don't do all that bells and whistles, okay? As an assassin, stealth and assassination are the most important scenes, but in the film there are all kinds of running away except for the front. This assassin's dazzling skills are not as good as special action films.
Of course, the biggest problem with this movie is the latter two points, one is the blunt transformation of the characters' hearts, and the other is the forced explanation.
From the very beginning, the female villain did not show the ruthless character that a villain should have, but tried to understand each other with the protagonist. Even in the later stage, when the protagonist came to the scene of the sweet and not spicy rally, she knew that the protagonist was going to kill her father without warning. Sweet and not spicy. Then when his father was killed, he threatened to eradicate the assassins for the sake of sweetness. What the hell, why did you go so early? Do you know that you are sweet or not, and that you and assassins are mortal enemies? Knowing that the man will kill your father, and then you will wait for your father to die before you show your loyalty to the organization. Are you anxious to inherit your father's flower chant? Of course, you can interpret this as a moderate villain, who is really for world peace. I'll be gentle with you. If it's really gentle, you'll change your mind when your father dies? What's more, you are completely indifferent to watching the protagonist kill your father, and then you push everything to the assassin, vowing to avenge the blood and hatred? Old girl, you are touching porcelain! ! And the male protagonist is even more ridiculous. From the beginning, he was a violent bastard, and then he was gradually disgusted by the female and helped to study the memory of the ancestors. Later, knowing that his father was afraid that his mother would be arrested for research and let Tian Bu Lai find the golden apple and kill him, the protagonist decided to fully cooperate with the research to get revenge on his father. By this time, even the other assassins under house arrest wanted to kill the male protagonist to relieve the troubles. Then, the protagonist suddenly saw his assassin ancestors shed blood to protect the golden apple, and then saw the illusion of his mother and his ancestors, and then suddenly changed his mind? Then he suddenly understood why his father wanted to kill his mother? Then I suddenly understood why it was desperate to protect the golden apple? Then you know what your creed as an assassin is? What is he meowing with? An inexplicable vision makes you repent and the prodigal son turns back? You probably don't even know what the golden apple guarded by your ancestors is?
The forced explanation is mainly manifested in three places. First of all, the film has not made it clear what the golden apple is. It was not until the last ten minutes that the villain came up with a thing, saying that this technology could rule all mankind. I believe you a ghost, you bad old man is very bad! ! ! In the game, the golden apple is a kind of relic of the first civilization. Different golden apples have different functions and great power. However, neither the ancient plot nor the modern plot in the movie shows the power of the golden apple. You say he's arrogant and he's arrogant? In my opinion, it's just a small ball with light-emitting diodes installed, are you kidding me? Once again, someone in the film repeatedly emphasized how important it is to protect free will, but it was repeatedly emphasized so many times that they did not explain what free will is until the end of the film? Why should we protect him? How are we going to protect him? Failed the political exam, old iron. It can be seen that the director wants to discuss the importance of free will, but the whole argument is not discussed. It is simply an empty slogan and is not convincing. The director's language composition failed, the narrative essay was not good, and the argumentative essay was not good either. Finally, remember that the protagonist only experienced fighting and running in the memory of the ancestors? This shows that the protagonist has not learned to sneak and assassinate at all. What the hell is the protagonist who suddenly sneaks into the sweet and spicy opportunity to assassinate the villain at the end? How did you sneak in? How did it run smoothly? Are all the sweet and spicy food at the scene vegetarian? Do you dare to go directly behind so many people? Games don't dare to do that. Did you suddenly add stealth skills? So you just went up and wiped your neck without even learning to jump in the air? Believe it or not, I just filmed it as the director anyway, and I have the final interpretation right. I think these are all reasonable. Right?
