father function

In the fourth part, Shrek was still swallowed up by the trivial life, unbearable. He seems to deviate from the original monster image, and yearns for return and freedom in his heart. So he longed to escape. Escape from reality and return to the ease of the past. Very metaphorical perspective! A projection of the human condition. In the real human world, many individuals "live elsewhere". Longing to start over in a strange place. It must be something wrong with real life. Shrek is unbearable with the repetitive patterns of Nanny Daddy. Bringing men back into the family to take on a nurturing function deviates from their evolutionary and historical image. However, the socialization of the new age does endow men and women with different functions, requiring them to adapt to new changes, which can sometimes cause confusion for them. It's fair to say that Shrek's fourth installment is dealing with this mess. How a man, a man who has established a family, adjusts his role and function to a new life form.

    [Puss gives a stinky look]

    Shrek: fa... ncy!

Puss in Boots: Do I know you?

Shrek: Where's your hat? Where's your belt? Your wee little boots?

Puss in Boots: Boots? For a cat? Ha!

Shrek: But you're Puss in Boots.

Puss in Boots: Maybe once. But that is a name I have outgrown.

Shrek: That's not the only thing you've outgrown.

Puss in Boots: Hey! I may have let myself go a little since my retirement, but hanging up my sword was the best decision of my life. I have all the cream I can drink and all the mice I can chase.

[a mouse runs up and drinks from Puss' bowl]

Puss in Boots: Eh. I'll get him later.

  • Donkey: Please eat my face last and send my hooves to my momma!
