Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

Last night, last night, I finally finished watching this movie that I have been waiting for since it was released. There were surprises, disappointments, and some. This is a novel that is difficult to adapt. It can be said that John Le Carre's novels are very large in capacity and difficult to change. Compared with Ian Fleming, another spy-born spy novelist, Le Carré's novels are much more oppressive and heavier. In my senior year of high school, I could read three copies of Ian Fleming's 007 in one day, but I could read at most one Le Carré in three days, and I read "The Immortal Gardener" for a whole week. The capacity is too large.

From the early stage of preparations, the unpredictable cast list is attractive enough. The British actors have been counted over and over. The main role, 5 actors have played HP, while lamenting that HP is really a big production, but also lamenting that the circle of corrupt countries is not generally small. And, in the beginning, Hardy's character (more like Sweetheart in the movie) is, yes, Fa Shark's! Yes, everyone is in the same circle, not... In short, the final lineup is actually very powerful. In the process of watching the movie, I was constantly crossing, constantly! The sequelae of watching too many British dramas and British movies...

This movie is really like an old-fashioned spy war drama. Depressed, cold, and dark, but lacks a sharp rhythm. Due to the time limit, many things were not explained too clearly. Such as why Captain Peter was so determined to help George Smiley in such a dangerous job, why did Sweetheart Ricky risk being hunted by both sides to return to the UK to find the team leader, and why Bill Haydn had A photo with Jim Pledo, and in the end why did Jim cry when he killed Bill, what is the role of each of them... All of this, I don't think the movie explains it clearly, but it all depends on the impression that I have seen the original book ( In fact, when I read the original book, I want to draw pictures. It's really a bit complicated, so the movie is hard to change, even if it is the screenwriter of "Queen"). So, in my eyes, the plot is really bad, but the style of the movie is beautiful.

Finally sigh under the performance. This is the best group show I've seen this year, bar none. In addition to the turbulent undercurrent of GO's father and the explosiveness of Que's father, Mark Strong's last performance was really good, full of emotion, entanglement, resentment, and the last drop of clear tears, killing the past is the contribution of his performance.

PS: Someone asked how many gays there are in the show after watching the movie, and someone answered: these are not gay, they are just British. Very incisive, but Captain Peter must be GAY, and according to the original book, I think BILL and JIM are also...

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy quotes

  • [Alleline's telex arrives from London]

    Ricki Tarr: Read it aloud.

Ben: "Personal for Tarr from Alleline: require clarification before meeting your request. Quote, 'information vital to safeguarding of the Circus', unquote, does not qualify, send further information."

Ricki Tarr: [laughing maniacally] That's the way, Percy boy! You keep stalling. I warn you, Ben, we've got some really lousy people in this outfit, I wouldn't trust a fucking one of them!

  • Percy Alleline: The Minister agrees with me that too many secrets are blowin' around here. Too much failure, too many scandals, too little solid intelligence.

Roy Bland: Percy does have a point, Control. We should be fighting communism, not each other.

Percy Alleline: Well, we're losing our reputation. Our partners.

    Control: [scoffs] Your bloody Yanks!

Percy Alleline: And we've had enough! There's going to be changes.

Easterhase: We need to decide if we want to be part of the past or part of the future.

Control: I should have left you where I found you.

    Easterhase: Look!

    Roy Bland: Control-...

    Control: Out! All of you!
