There's a Tom in everyone, everyone needs a Peter

First of all, I really like this movie.
I think there is actually a Ripley in everyone's heart, just not as talented as him. If there are countless possibilities in space, and we are in the same situation as Ripley and have that kind of IQ, then another The Talented Mr. Ripley might be playing out in another world. The film's description of Dick through Maggie's mouth is too vivid: "When he is warm, he warms others like the sun, making you feel that you are the only irreplaceable one. When he is tired, it is as cold as winter." Typical and Handsome, rich, uninhibited, playful and elegant, Ripley admired and envied him, and lost control after being rejected and denied. Since he knew Dick, Ripley has embarked on a different path. After killing Dick, he is destined to walk more paths in the world full of flaws he created, and he doesn't know how many more paths he has to walk to reach The world he wanted... Hoffman's character is so typical, he's the kind of guy that Dick's always around, smart and mean. Blanchett's presence proves how successful Ripley's disguise is, and Ripley enjoys this successful disguise.

And with a strong feeling that everyone needs a Peter, I wonder if the tone of the story would have been warmer and nicer if Ripley had met Peter earlier. Peter is completely different from Dick. Dick makes people worry about gains and losses. Peter is a gentle piano piece. He's the one you're willing to hand over the keys to the basement where you've buried your secrets. This kind of person is pure and beautiful, and he never defends against the person he likes. If he had met Peter earlier, then Peter might have been Ripley's Purdue. It was too much, so he could only add another poignant beauty. I love Peter so much! Life is always full of choices, from what to eat for lunch to...the Dick and Peter in your life will influence your choices.
PS: The actors are all great, the music is super good, some shots are handled technically and artistically. I also want to read the novel of the same name. I like Matt Damon so much now, he is so suitable for this kind of role, evil and vulnerable atypical bad guy. Jude Law had a different kind of handsome when he was young.
