Bestselling author Paul Shelton (James Caan) is driving home with his latest work, "Misery". On the way, he encountered a terrible snowstorm, the car rolled over, and Paul's legs were seriously injured. Fortunately, Anne Wilkes (Kathy Bates), a nurse who lived alone on a nearby mountaintop, rescued him in time. Anne is Paul's number one fan, under her careful care, Paul's injury is getting better day by day. But when she learned that the heroine she loved had died in Paul's new book, she couldn't contain the anger in her heart and resorted to various means to retaliate against Paul, gradually driving the writer to despair...
The film is based on the horror novel master Stephen King's novel Adapted from the novel of the same name, the heroine Kathy Bates won the Best Actress Award at the 63rd Academy Awards for her crazy and capricious performance.
