Greed is the source of evil, and it begets disasters. In the movie Shallow Grave, a windfall made those three young people become greedy, and their greed changed their personality and even changed their whole lives.
Firstly, greed changed their personality and made them psychological distorted. David was a sensitive and shy boy before, but after he was forced to mutilate body, he became increasingly viperous and suspicious. He started distrusting his friends and concerning that they would keep that windfall without sharing. He even hided the money in a toilet tank in the loft and watch the money day and night. Besides, his greed denatured him. Before he mutilated body, he dare not take the windfall. However, as he became increasingly callous, he held a knife all the time, and when the two gangsters intrude his loft, he killed them without fear and sympathy.
Additionally, greed destroyed their lives. Before they got the windfall, they lived happily and peacefully. However, their greed brought dangers to their lives. Two merciless gangsters tracked the money for a long time, and when they intruded the three young people's apartment, they wanted to kill them. Besides, greed destroyed their friendship. Before got the windfall, they were intimate friends. However, they all changed gradually. David's change is more obvious than the other two. He became completely different. Alex also changed. When he found the changes of his two friends, he secretly shifted the money and used newspaper to replace. Juliet became the most callous person, in fact. She utilized Alex and David's affection for her and instigated them to kill with each other.
At the ending, David was killed; Juliet got nothing; Alex was lying in a pool of blood. This movie warns audience that greed could lead to disaster or even death.
