Tomb Raider 9 happens to be one of the few games I've played, so watching this game change feels a little different than watching other game changes.
The movie is nominally an adaptation of the 9th generation plus the Holy Trinity integrated into the 10th generation, but because some key settings around Himichu were subverted, the final plot presented is equivalent to a high degree of originality. And if the cause of this disruption is to be investigated, budget constraints are likely to bear the brunt.
Alicia Vikander's Laura model is highly restored, and although there are subtle differences in temperament from the game version, it fits well enough in the movie environment. It's a pity that the effect of the film is mediocre. While subverting the setting of "approaching science", it retains the organization of pursuing supernatural power, which makes the plot development and the echoes seem twisted. effort.
Having said that, according to screenwriter Geneva Robinson-DeVorlette in a previous interview, the serious tone of the film was the result of Kanmei gaining greater creative control, and the initial draft of the script was more similar in tone to Funny action comedy. It's just that I don't know at what stage the decision to desupernaturalize was made. Considering that the budget should be the main reason for this subversion, it was probably decided at the beginning. In short, it's a pity.
In any case, this reboot of "Tomb Raider" is much stronger than the "Warcraft" and "Assassin's Creed" movies in recent years. After all, it is a commercial film with a basic degree of completion. Overall, it's okay to watch.
60/100.
